The Platform Engineering team is composed of engineers working cross-functionally to provide support for our entire physical infrastructure. We balance large scale deployment projects with internal user operational concerns. We value thoughtful and creative solutions, and aspire to give our engineers all the tools they need to study and implement those solutions.

The ideal candidate embraces continuously evolving architecture and wants to play a role in designing and deploying methodologies that will be used throughout the company.
 

What you’ll do

DV maintains both physical and virtual data center presences throughout the world. You will participate in the design, development, and deployment of data centers’ infrastructure. You should possess knowledge and understanding of Software Defined Network frameworks and methodologies, with the ability to automate routine tasks and orchestrate complex workflows. We seek creative engineers with a strong background and in-depth understanding of networking and routing principles as well as software engineering philosophies.

In this role you will dive deep into planning, implementation, and the support of an always-on, robust network topology. 
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership for complex projects to increase the stability of our network, enhance scalability, efficiency, and quality of infrastructure deployments

  • Collaborate with system and devops engineers to support existing systems and build new ones

  • Ensure performance and reliability of multi-vendor networks across various platforms and technologies 

  • Expert understanding in mitigating risks and minimizing surface attack vectors 

  • Support multi-tier web application architectures, including Kubernetes/containers inter-networking

  • WAN and LAN system design in a multi-site multi-cloud environment

  • Communicate progress and activities to internal stakeholders and management

  • Provide technical mentorship to other team members
     

Minimum Qualifications

  • Expert knowledge of network topologies, 10+ years of experience

  • GoLang, Python or similar programming languages

  • Familiarity with automation and orchestration tools like Ansible and Terraform

  • Experience interfacing with third party API datasets (Rest, gNMI, JSON, YANG)

  • Git version control and pipeline management

  • Experience with Cisco (IOS, NX-OS, IOS-XR) and other vendors CLI and API interactions

  • Low latency experience and deployment knowledge

  • Extensive experience with external and internal routing protocols including but not limited to BGP, OSPF, IPv4 and IPv6 subnetting and route aggregation techniques

  • Experience with load balancing solutions, deep understanding of their principles, limitations, and optimizations 

  • Ability to self implement large scale features

  • Experience working with PaaS and/or IaaS infrastructures and scaleability

  • Good communication skills, a great personality, and a passion for working collaboratively

  • Practical experience of problem solving at different layers of deployment or operational iterations

  • High availability thinking
     

Preferred Qualifications

  • 15+ years hands-on work experience

  • Experience designing and implementing CDN based architectures, including anycast and multipath traffic engineering

  • Experience designing, deploying and managing architectures such as infrastructure automation frameworks, such as RackN, MetalSoft or similar platforms

  • Experience developing integrations with Terraform and Ansible

  • Mastery of one or more configuration management frameworks
     

 

The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on a number of non-discriminating factors, including qualifications for the role, level, skills, experience, location, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at DV.
The estimated salary range for this role based on the qualifications set forth in the job description is between $107,000- $213,000. This role will also be eligible for bonus/commission (as applicable), equity, and benefits.
