Staff Software Engineer, Customer Experience
About the role:
Forter is looking for a Staff Full-Stack Engineer to join our Customer Experience (CX) group and help build a new team tasked with creating significant parts of Forter’s vision for 2025 and beyond. This is a unique opportunity to shape the technical direction and culture of a newly formed team that will drive impactful customer-facing solutions.
As a foundational member of this team, you’ll not only lead the design and development of critical features but also establish best practices and foster a high-performing engineering mentality. You’ll have a direct hand in building scalable, innovative solutions while mentoring and collaborating with engineers across Forter to ensure technical excellence.
The CX group specializes in creating tools that empower customers to derive actionable insights, make data-driven decisions, and effectively manage platform traffic.

As a Staff Engineer, you’ll take a leadership role in delivering these high-impact solutions while setting technical standards for the team.
What you'll be doing:
- Together with the Engineering Manager, build and shape a new team: Define team best practices, mentor engineers, and establish a culture of iterative delivery, collaboration, and technical excellence.
- Be a significant driving force in delivering the team’s commitments, in time and quality, by taking a leading role in development and execution.
- Lead the tech design and development of Forter’s Product vision for 2025 and beyond.
- Collaborate with engineers across the organization to build scalable and performant solutions for client-facing interfaces.
- Guide the team in adopting best practices for system design, code quality, testing, and deployment.
- Take ownership of large, complex projects, from initial concept to deployment in production.
- Partner with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to translate customer-focused business requirements into technical solutions.
- Proactively identify technical risks, propose solutions, and ensure high standards for reliability, monitoring, and alerting in production systems.
What you'll need:
- A strategic thinker who can balance long-term vision with pragmatic execution.
- At least 8 years of experience in full-stack web development, with expertise across the stack in technologies such as React, Vue, Lit, Angular, Node.js, Storybook, Jest, and modern JavaScript (ES6+) / Typescript.
- You’ve developed systems operating in a high-scale environment, and you’re highly capable of optimizing such systems for low latency and cost.
- Demonstrated expertise in working with data pipelines, including ETLs.
- Familiarity with modern tools and frameworks for batch and/or streaming data processing is a plus.
- Proven ability to design and implement complex distributed systems in event-driven architectures.
- Advanced skills in HTML, CSS, and responsive design, with a strong focus on pixel-perfect implementation.
- Experience in technical leadership and mentoring engineering teams, driving technical excellence across projects.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, able to work effectively across teams and with external stakeholders.
- Experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, Azure)Experience with build and automation tools like Webpack, Rollup, or similar.
It Would Be Great if You Also Have:
- Expertise in building low-latency web applications or real-time systems.
- Experience with NoSQL databases like Elasticsearch.
- Proficiency in Python and scripting for automation.
- Familiarity with AWS services such as SQS, SNS, and EC2.
