What will you be doing?

  • Performing daily teaching tasks, including grade-level meetings, department collaborations, and parent meetings
  • Assisting in the planning and execution of educational trips, advisory sessions, homeroom, lunch, recess, classroom coverage, and detention duties
  • Participating in and supporting school events, activities, and programs, both inside and outside of school hours, as possible
  • Collaborating with colleagues to build a cohesive school culture of success
  • Preparing lesson plans according to Common Core State Standards, in collaboration with your supervisor and department
  • Regularly analyzing data, monitoring student progress, and updating performance trackers to inform lesson planning
  • Proactively updating families on student progress
  • Collaborating with the Instructional Dean and lead teacher to ensure all students’ needs are met, with a focus on classroom culture and management

Classroom Culture and Management

  • Collaborate with the Instructional Coaches and lead teacher to ensure the needs of all learners are met
  • Plan lessons and discuss upcoming classroom events with the Instructional Coaches
  • Observe lead teachers and participate in debriefing on classroom management and instructional strategies

  • Believe deeply in the mission of Foundation Academies and the potential of all children
  • Build and maintain relationships with students and families based on trust and respect
  • Approach practice with a sense of urgency to maximize instructional time
  • Establish and maintain high expectations for academic work and classroom behavior

What do we require from you?

  • Valid NJ Substitute Certification (CE, CEAS, or Standard Certification)
  • 2+ years working in an urban setting preferred
  • Strong track record of measurable success in the classroom
  • A passion for growing, learning, and improving in a collaborative environment
  • Commitment to working in an anti-discriminatory learning space
  • Semifinalist candidates will need to provide unofficial transcripts, evidence of certification/eligibility, and 3 professional references
  • Hired candidates will need to provide official transcripts, criminal clearance (fingerprinting), and medical clearance (TB/Mantoux testing) as required by NJDOE
