Who You Are:
We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Counsel – Employment, Compensation and Benefits to join our legal and compliance team. This individual will play a critical role in advising on a broad range of labor and employment law matters, as well as executive compensation and employee benefits issues across Galaxy. The ideal candidate will be a law school graduate with 4+ years of specialized experience gained through a combination of international law firm training and in-house legal counsel roles. This position is ideally suited for a self-starter who thrives in fast-paced, high-growth environments and enjoys working on complex issues with significant business impact.
What You’ll Do:
- Employment Law & Counseling
- Provide practical, business-oriented advice and strategic counsel to the People Team, executive leadership, and business units on U.S. and global employment matters including hiring, terminations, performance management, workplace policies, employee relations, internal investigations, and litigation strategy
- Executive Compensation & Benefits
- Advise on design, implementation, and compliance issues related to equity compensation plans, carried interest structures, phantom equity, deferred compensation, incentive plans, and other compensation-related arrangements
- Mergers & Acquisitions
- Provide labor and employment support for corporate transactions, including due diligence, integration planning, and employment-related deal terms and documentation.
- Governance & Board-Level Engagement
- Collaborate closely with other members of the Legal and Compliance team on Board of Directors and Compensation Committee matters, public company governance obligations, executive compensation disclosures, and strategic employment issues
- International Scope
- Support employment and compensation matters across international jurisdictions, with a focus on Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Work with local counsel and internal stakeholders to ensure compliance and consistency
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with other members of Legal and Compliance, the People Team, Finance and Tax teams to provide seamless, strategic support across functions
- Litigation & Investigations
- Manage employment-related litigation and pre-litigation matters, including internal investigations, administrative charges, and external counsel coordination

What We’re Looking For:
- J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to at least one U.S. state bar in good standing
- 4+ years of relevant experience with a strong foundation in employment law and executive compensation, gained through both:
- A top-tier international law firm, and
- In-house counsel experience at a public or global company
- Deep knowledge of labor and employment laws, compensation and benefits regulations, and relevant securities law considerations
- Significant experience advising on:
- Equity compensation and long-term incentive structures
- Carried interest, deferred comp, phantom equity
- M&A-related employment and benefits issues
- Executive agreements and terminations
- Employment-related litigation and internal investigations
- Experience working with international jurisdictions, particularly in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, is a strong plus
- Comfortable working in a high-growth, dynamic, and ambiguous environment
- Strong business judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to roll up your sleeves and manage competing priorities under tight deadlines

The base salary ranges included below will be commensurate with candidate experience, expertise and local market. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate experience and expertise. At Galaxy, we maintain a total compensation philosophy which consists of a competitive base salary, annual bonus, and equity incentives.
Base Salary Range
$200,000 - $240,000 USD
