Position Summary
General Atlantic is seeking a seasoned accounting professional to join our Investment Fund Operations Team in Amsterdam. This individual will play a pivotal role in managing fund operations and financial reporting for our Dutch investment platform. As a senior team member, the candidate will lead and mentor junior staff, enhance accounting processes, and serve as a key liaison across global finance, legal, and tax functions. The candidate will also be involved with the German management company.
The Amsterdam office is composed of ~10 people. The successful candidate will provide leadership and expertise across fund and corporate accounting activities within the Dutch investment platform.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and ensure accurate record keeping and fund accounting for Dutch Cooperatives and related Dutch, German, and Luxembourg subsidiaries
- Support in transaction management (investment closings, sales, distributions)
- Supervise the preparation and review of share reconciliations, capital activity summaries, and other complex investment breakdowns
- Coordination of the annual audit and the preparation and/or review of financial statements, tax filings, and regulatory submissions
- Manage the Accounts Payable process end-to-end, including invoice review, allocation approval, and payment execution
- Oversee cash management, including bank reconciliations and liquidity tracking
- Take ownership of the monthly and quarterly close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting
- Mentor and guide junior staff, fostering knowledge transfer and professional development
- Together with the Vice President Finance work on strategic improvements and efficiency gains
- Accounting of the German management company
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (Dutch HBO-level or higher); a Master’s degree or professional qualification (e.g., RA, CPA) is preferred
- 5-10 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within private equity or asset management
- Expertise in fund accounting and familiarity with investment structures across jurisdictions (NL, LU, DE)
- Significant proficiency in Microsoft Excel including links, reference formulas/lookups, and pivot tables (Macro skills a plus)
- PowerBI, Alteryx, or other data analytic software knowledge a plus
- Adept at navigating complex accounting systems; experience with Yardi, Investran, or similar is a plus
- Fluent in Dutch and English, both written and spoken
- Well organized, analytical, flexible and meticulous with leadership capabilities
- Proactive, collaborative, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, global environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a professional presence
