Tax Associate

In this role, you will work within ICONIQ’s Vice President of Tax and the Fund Finance team to assist in tax compliance and reporting for all investment funds while also working closely with the Corporate Finance team on firmwide matters.  This role will require a moderate understanding of tax law and accounting for ICONIQ funds and the capacity to manage multiple workflows with a focus on organization, quality control, and completeness. 

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Ensure the correct operation of the ICONIQ funds and holding structures.
  • Coordinate with tax advisors and fund administrators to ensure accuracy and completeness of tax returns, underlying tax documents, K-1s, and other relevant tax filings.
  • Understand UBTI, ECI, new tax legislations, state and local considerations, and how it interacts with client concerns and tax structures (e.g., pass-through entities, AB 150, etc.)
  • Support ongoing compliance under the various AEOI regimes (FATCA, CRS)
  • Proactively identify tax risks/areas and help manage efficiently and effectively.
  • Maintain relationships with external tax and legal service providers.

 

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • 4+ years of relevant tax experience in a public accounting or asset management environment.
  • Knowledge of investment fund tax accounting concepts, such as partnership tax accounting, tax allocations, management fees, and carried interest.
  • Experience with multi-tiered fund structures, including SPVs and blockers preferred.
  • Must have Interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal, speaking to external and internal stakeholders.
  • Seeking a highly motivated, self-driven, solution and detail-oriented individual with the desire to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; experience with data analytics and performance reporting tools a plus.
  • Strong academic track record with a minimum of bachelor’s degree, CPA certification is preferred

Location: Applicants are expected to work onsite in our New York City office in accordance with our hybrid working policy. 

 

Compensation Range: ICONIQ is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role, together with other compensation being offered such as a discretionary bonus, health insurance, and other perks. There are several factors taken into consideration in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At ICONIQ, we apply a total reward philosophy where all aspects of compensation and benefits are taken into consideration in determining compensation terms. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $130,000 - $150,000 together with a discretionary bonus, health insurance, paid time off, 401k participation with a company matching program, wellness stipend, personal education allowance as well as a commuter benefits program.
