The Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games will be hosted in Los Angeles, California in 2028, returning to the United States for the first time in over 30 years. 2028 will be the first time LA hosts the Paralympic Games, creating an opportunity to expand awareness, understanding and inclusion of people with disabilities.

The LA28 organizing committee is an independent, non-profit organization that is privately funded and governed by a board of directors.

Summary

The Paralegal will be an integral part of the legal team, supporting across the legal team with a focus on Games Delivery planning (which includes working with venue partners, municipalities and other delivery partners integral to hosting the 2028 Games) and operational matters.  This role offers an unparalleled opportunity to increase your professional network, gain valuable experience, and grow with the organization as we gear up for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games!

This position will report to a Managing Counsel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as paralegal support staff to the LA28 Legal Department.
  • Maintain an organized and up-to-date electronic and hard copy filing system for contracts, corporate records, and other corporate matters.
  • Create physical and electronic files; search and retrieve files on an ongoing basis.
  • Compose and prepare confidential correspondence, memos, contract summaries, reports, and presentations.
  • Assemble and copy documents, prepare binders and other materials for reference and/or presentations.
  • Updating and maintaining contract forms, preparing initial drafts of contracts, revisions and proofing of contracts, and ongoing support of related legal documents under the supervision of an attorney.
  • Manage internal contracting processes through LA28’s document/contract management system, including information gathering and liaising between the legal department and LA28’s business teams.
  • Run redlines and correspond with external parties regarding contract status.
  • Confirm standard contracts comply with template standards, coordinate with department heads and legal department regarding non-standard elements.
  • Assist with the maintenance of legal documents on LA28 website
  • Assist with special projects as requested by attorneys.
  • Occasional administrative office support as needed.

 

Background and Requirements

 

  • Three or more (3+) years of experience as a paralegal or legal assistant preferred (preferably in a large law firm and/or corporate in-house legal department).
  • Concise grammatical skills, excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional research, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent word processing and database management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, PowerPoint and Excel, document/contract management programs, and experience preparing legal documents, presentations and spreadsheets.
  • Strong ability to interact diplomatically and with professional maturity with senior executives, staff and external business partners.
  • Positive, team-oriented, and collaborative attitude.
  • Ability to work well with others in a fast paced and dynamic environment, both autonomously and collaboratively.
  • High level of personal integrity and professional ethics; ability to maintain absolute confidentiality, to perform duties with utmost discretion and act with complete integrity.
  • Strong work ethic, client-service orientation, and sound judgment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB).
  • Local candidates preferred.

 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

 

  • Will be required to be in the office up to 4-5 days per week in an open office setting
  • Sitting/Standing: Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working at a desk or computer.
  • Manual Dexterity: Proficiency in typing and using office equipment, including computers, printers, and phones.

 

Expectations

Education / Training / Certifications

 

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in the field that develops the skills required for the position. Paralegal certification preferred.  

The annual base salary range for this position is $68,000 - $78,000. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
