LA28 is the independent, non-profit, privately funded organizing committee for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The 2028 Games mark the return of the Summer Games to the U.S. for the first time in 32 years and Los Angeles’ third time hosting an Olympic Games and first time welcoming the Paralympic Games. This presents the unique and exciting opportunity to celebrate our legacy with the Games and push the Olympic and Paralympic Movements forward, writing a new chapter of Games history in Los Angeles.

VP, Games Experiences & Engagement

The Vice President of Games Experiences & Engagement will lead the planning and delivery of programs, initiatives, and partnerships that bring the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games to life beyond sport competition.  
 
This role will transform strategy into action by overseeing the execution of large-scale fan and community engagement initiatives, including the Olympic & Paralympic Torch Relay, Live Sites, and other consumer-facing activations,ensuring they reflect the LA28 brand and deliver meaningful experiences for fans, partners, and the community. 

The ideal candidate is a proven operator with deep experience in major events, live entertainment, and large-scale fan engagement, with the ability to integrate cross-functional priorities, manage complex partnerships, and deliver best-in-class programs at global scale. 

This role reports to the Chief Marketing Officer.  

Key Responsibilities:

Program Planning & Delivery 

  • Lead the planning, operational design, and execution of major Games-related programs (Torch Relay, Live Sites, and other consumer-facing initiatives)
  • Translate established strategies into detailed delivery plans with timelines, budgets, execution models, etc.  
  • Secure and manage delivery providers, vendors, and agencies to execute at scale
  • Drive a culture of operational excellence, ensuring all initiatives are delivered on time, on budget, and at the highest standard 

Operational Leadership 

  • Manage high-performing teams to deliver programs from concept to execution
  • Oversee program budgets, contracts, and resource allocation in alignment with the lifetime Games budget
  • Establish and manage key milestones in alignment with the IOC/IPC master calendar
  • Anticipate risks, resolve operational challenges, and ensure seamless execution 

Cross-Functional Integration 

  • Partner with Commercial functions (sponsorship, consumer products, ticketing, hospitality, food & beverage, philanthropy) to create revenue-generating opportunities through consumer-facing programs
  • Work with Games Delivery and Technical Operations teams to integrate non-competition initiatives into the overall Games plan
  • Collaborate with Community Engagement to ensure initiatives align with LA28’s community commitments and legacy objectives
  • Partner with Brand, Marketing, Communications, and Digital teams to design and execute physical and digital campaigns that drive awareness, participation, and engagement
  • Serve as the primary liaison with external stakeholders (IOC/IPC, USOPC, City partners, delivery partners) 

Leadership & Representation 

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders internally and externally
  • Represent Games Experience & Engagement to executive leadership, partners, and external organizations 
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture across teams and partners 

Background & Requirements:

  • Minimum 12+ years of senior leadership experience in sports, live entertainment, or large-scale events
  • Proven track record in planning and delivering complex, consumer-facing programs at scale
  • Expertise in event operations, program management, and fan engagement (both physical and digital)
  • Experience supporting a commercial/partner activation (i.e. sponsorship fulfillment)
  • Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional initiatives and delivering measurable impact
  • Strong financial and operational acumen, with experience managing large budgets

  • Skilled at managing change and scaling organizations from early planning phases through delivery
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, with the ability to balance vision, execution, and diplomacy

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience  

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work on-site in an open office environment, based in Los Angeles, CA
  • The majority of work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment 
  • Hours of work may vary, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, especially during peak event periods

The annual base salary range for this position is $182,000.00 - $260,000.00. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
