Description
The Administrative Assistant is responsible for routine clerical matters and assuring that documents flow in a coordinated and efficient manner.
JOB DUTIES/KNOWLEDGE
- Provides assistance to clinicians, management, patients, physicians, facility staff and caregivers.
- Notifies supervising nurse regarding clinical questions or concerns.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Maintains files, supplies and general office condition in a clean and orderly manner.
- Handles all correspondence timely and appropriately.
- Word processing and tracking responsibilities are completed accurately and timely
- Answers telephone inquiries and channels them appropriately.
- Files and maintains clinical records.
- Supports field clinicians with office support functions.
- Assists with obtaining signed physician's orders.
- Completes assigned data entry responsibilities in a timely manner.
- Scheduling responsibilities completed timely and accurately.
- Audits medical record to assure regulatory and practice guidelines are maintained.
- Accurate insurance verification with appropriate notification to patient/caregivers/nurse as required regarding covered benefits.
- Other duties as assigned by the Administrator/ Director of Nursing and Clinical Managers.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of two years experience preferably in home health or health care, or graduation from a one or two year business college preferred.
- Able to type 50 words per minute.
- Has word processing skills, personal computer skills, and business machine knowledge.
- Understands basic medical terminology.
