Senior Designer for Women's Apparel, who will be responsible for the entire product design process to include market research, inspiration boards, designing, styling, sketching, specing and fit as well as business strategy. Also includes the development of commercial products in accordance with target prices. Experience designing in the Off-Price Market Place preferred
RESPONSIBILITIES
● Responsible for the entire product design process to include market research, inspiration boards, designing, sketching, specing and fit.
● Have awareness of design budgets
● Monitor and ensure adherence to Time and Action /Design calendar deadlines.
● Design and develop seasonal Women’s product for off price market across all classifications that are consistent with the brand position and value proposition, and support direction established in merchandise tactical plans.
● Work with Sourcing and the Oversea Offices on the development and research of new fabrics that fit into the pricing structure established from Merchandising and to facilitate fabric and trim research and development.
● Collaborate with Merchandiser in development of line Lists.
● Provides recommendations regarding seasonal themes, edits to line, new concepts, etc.
● Research and interpret trends in styling, color, fabrics and findings for a seasonal trend presentation .
● Ensures that product is consistent with market trends as well as business strategy
● Work with Merchandising to create market ready, priced right, commercial designs for presentation in sketch and sample form.
● Prepare accurate and timely proto sample, sales sample, and production notes/comments for Technical, Product Coordinator, and Merchandiser
● Collaborate with Technical, Product Coordinators, and Graphics to establish and communicate all specifications for fit, sizing, fabrics, trims, and construction details.
● Direct development of sales tools such as CADS and Board Presentations
● Oversee, prepare, and maintain color CADs and Line Lists.
● Responsible for fabric, trim and embroidery selection.
● Works collaboratively with product coordinators, sourcing, tech department, and merchandising to bring vision to commercially viable product decisions including lab dips, strike offs and handloom approvals.
● Provides insight regarding style and fit of product during presentations.
● Review/approve trim cards/bulk fabrics for production with overseas office.
● Organize and keep track of all documentation and materials generated by the Design/Development process.
● Communicate with sourcing offices in Asia and factories regarding style details/changes in a clear and concise manner.
SKILLS
● Strong computer knowledge including illustrator, Photoshop, U4RIA, PDM
● Strong design and conceptual skills in the of price market for TJ Maxx, Ross, Bealls Outlet.
● Ability to design around concepts with a strong sense of style and color.
● Thorough knowledge of silhouettes, fabrication, colorways, textiles, sewing techniques, graphics, embroidery and trim.
● Strong organizational, time management, communication and presentation skills.
● Pattern making/garment construction knowledge and experience.
● Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business, technical and professional journals or other documents.
● Ability to effectively present information to and respond to questions from overseas offices and other associates.
● Understanding of garment cost.
● Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
● Ability to train and develop Associates
REQUIREMENTS
● College degree in Fashion Design or related field.

Salary offered will be commensurate with experience. For this New York based position, the expected salary is $94,000-$120,000.
