Junior Backend Developer
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Pioneering Evolution is seeking a Junior Backend Developer to support the development of secure, audit-ready backend services for a mission-critical federal software platform. Under the mentorship of senior engineers, this role provides a valuable opportunity to build technical proficiency in modern software development, contribute to backend solutions, and gain hands-on experience with compliance-driven systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to learn, collaborate effectively, and grow in a secure, fast-paced development environment. Other key responsibilities include:

Assist in developing and testing backend services using .NET Core to support secure and scalable functionality.

Write unit and integration tests to uphold system quality, performance, and maintainability.

Participate in Agile ceremonies, team planning sessions, and peer code reviews to develop best practices.

Collaborate with senior developers to expand knowledge of secure coding, system design, and compliance principles.

Contribute to technical documentation and actively engage in knowledge-sharing activities.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.

Some experience with backend development using frameworks such as .NET Core or Node.js (internships, academic projects, or early professional work).

Willingness and aptitude to learn secure coding practices and compliance standards.

Strong communication and collaboration skills with a proactive, team-oriented mindset.

Must be available to work full-time and on-site in the Washington D.C. metro area.

U.S. Citizenship and active Secret Clearance are required.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

Exposure to federal software environments or projects requiring regulatory compliance.

Familiarity with Git or other version control systems, as well as continuous integration/deployment (CI/CD) tools.

Interest in secure software development, cloud platforms, or backend performance optimization.
