Business Analyst

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Business Analyst bridges the gap between business objectives and technical delivery, ensuring application features are clearly defined, testable, and aligned with strategic goals. Working closely with the Product Owner and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), this role translates the product vision into actionable requirements and user stories. The Business Analyst collaborates with the UI/UX Designer to validate that designs reflect business needs, and partners with the Project Manager and Lead Architect to ensure requirements are well-documented, prioritized, and ready for development. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the Product Owner and SMEs to capture, analyze, and refine functional and non-functional requirements. 
  • Translate business goals into user stories, use cases, and acceptance criteria that can be prioritized in the product backlog. 
  • Collaborate with the UI/UX Designer to review wireframes, workflows, and prototypes to ensure alignment with business intent and usability standards. 
  • Work with the Project Manager to maintain backlog clarity, support sprint planning, and ensure requirements are testable and achievable. 
  • Develop process diagrams, data flows, and supporting documentation that provide traceability from business objectives to technical implementation. 
  • Serve as a liaison between stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring shared understanding of requirements and priorities. 
  • Support QA efforts by validating that test cases align with acceptance criteria and stakeholder expectations. 
  • Identify opportunities to improve requirements gathering, stakeholder engagement, and delivery processes. 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field. 
  • 5+ years of experience in business analysis, requirements engineering, or product support in Agile software projects. 
  • Proven ability to write user stories and acceptance criteria, and to work closely with Product Owners and technical teams. 
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills, with experience engaging stakeholders across business and technical domains. 
  • Proficiency with requirements management and collaboration tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, or similar). 
  • U.S. Citizenship and an active Secret Clearance are required. 
  • This position is full-time and on-site in the Washington, D.C. metro area. 

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience working on enterprise platforms, modernization projects, or federal software systems. 
  • Familiarity with UI/UX principles and the ability to validate user flows against business requirements. 
  • Understanding of Agile delivery practices and backlog management. 
  • Knowledge of compliance, audit readiness, or financial workflows in federal environments.
