Who we are looking for:
Slate is looking for a highly skilled and motivated BIW Processing / Execution Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a key part in the development and implementation of Body-in-White (BIW) systems for the manufacturing of our new vehicle body structure. Your expertise will contribute to the efficiency, precision, and overall excellence of our production processes.
What you get to do:

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand Body-in-White (BIW) design requirements and provide input on processing and tooling design.
- Own a Body-in-White (BIW) system from inception through start-up.
- Work with integrator in developing manufacturing processes, designing equipment/tooling, Integration of equipment, install into the plant.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and all ME deliverables.
- Provide technical direction to and oversight of outside vendor sources.
- Support build events at the plant.
- Address launch issues.
- Work closely with product engineering and production teams to troubleshoot tooling issues, optimize processes, and ensure seamless integration of new technologies.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in advanced tooling, incorporating innovative solutions to enhance production efficiency.
- Collaborate with external suppliers to source, evaluate, and implement cutting-edge tooling technologies.
What you bring to the team:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Master’s Degree is a plus.
- 3 to 5 years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer in an automotive manufacturing environment, with a focus on Body-in-White (BIW) processes.
- 2+ years of experience in manufacturing launch.
- In-depth knowledge of Body-in-White (BIW) processing, tool design, tool build, integration, installation, and start-up.
- Knowledge of GD&T, coordinated datum location strategy, and Body-in-White (BIW) welding.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on precision and quality in Body-in-White (BIW) system design and implementation.
- Understanding of safety systems and lockout requirements.
- Proven ability in project management skills and ability to teach others.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and external suppliers to achieve project goals.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple and significantly complex projects and assignments with highest level of autonomy and accountability for results.
- Demonstrates initiative by reaching beyond work assigned to improve output and/or help others.
