Our Opportunity

Snyk, a leader in developer security, has acquired Probely, a modern Dynamic Application Security Testing (DAST) provider based in Portugal, with coverage of API security testing and web applications.

In this role, you will develop our Crawler/Spider (a key component of our scanning engine) adding features and improving existing ones, to increase our scanner coverage. Our Crawlers navigate web applications and API's, identifying the areas that need to be tested, working in tandem with our Scanners, requiring a strong collaboration between various engineering teams.

You’ll Spend Your Time:

  • Analyzing requirements, specifications, and technical design documents in preparation for development.
  • Developing the various Crawlers supporting new or existing features.
  • Working with the different teams to discuss and implement technical solutions, and fix and identify bugs.
  • Researching web technologies as they get adopted by browsers and add support for them.
  • Implementing tests for any developed code.
  • Reviewing and testing teammate's code.

What You’ll Need:

  • At least 5 years of professional experience as a Backend Engineer, Software Developer, or similar role.
  • Strong proficiency with Node JS.
  • Strong knowledge of web technologies (HTTP, JavaScript, DOM, etc).
  • Proficiency in Git and code management tools like GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket.
  • An ability to lift the performance of a team through coaching and mentoring of more junior engineers.
  • Effective communicator both verbally and in writing. 

We’d be Lucky if You: 

  • Experience with Python is highly valued. 
  • An interest in and knowledge of security concepts is valued.
  • Enjoy working on early stage products - talking with customers to identify, prioritize and solve problems iteratively and build something that they really love.
  • Feed off complex technical problems and find solutions where others see roadblocks.
