What You’ll Do

As our VP, Packaging Design, you’ll shape the future of Sol de Janeiro’s visual identity through packaging that is as joyful and performance-driven as the products inside. This leader will drive creative innovation across all packaging touchpoints—from primary and secondary packaging to gifting and limited editions—while fostering strong collaboration with cross-functional partners to bring ideas to life with excellence.

You will report to the Chief Creative Officer and lead a best-in-class team responsible for concepting, designing, and executing packaging that resonates globally, elevates our brand, and delights our customers.

What You’ll Be Working On

  • Lead the creative vision, strategy, and execution for packaging design across all product categories
  • Inspire, manage, and grow a high-performing packaging design team
  • Drive innovation in form, structure, material, and storytelling while upholding Sol de Janeiro’s joyful and sustainable brand DNA
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Development, Global Marketing, Operations, R&D, and Regulatory to bring concepts to market on time and on budget
  • Ensure packaging meets both aesthetic and consumer experience standards, while considering functionality, manufacturability, and sustainability
  • Partner with external agencies, suppliers, and production teams to deliver packaging excellence at global scale
  • Oversee design timelines and project management tools to maintain visibility, alignment, and efficiency
  • Serve as a brand guardian and advocate for packaging design in global forums and executive discussions

 

Must Haves

  • 12+ years of experience in packaging design, with a strong portfolio of brand-defining work in beauty, CPG, or luxury
  • 5+ years of creative leadership experience with direct team management
  • Deep expertise in brand storytelling through packaging, from concept sketches to production-ready files
  • Strong understanding of global markets, cultural nuance, and packaging trends
  • Passion for material innovation, sustainability, and consumer-first design
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with executive stakeholders
  • Experience working collaboratively with technical packaging development teams (engineering, R&D, supply chain)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Graphic Design, Packaging Design, or a related field

Cross-Functional Partnership

This role will collaborate closely with the Packaging Development and Engineering teams within Supply Chain and R&D to ensure designs are technically feasible, scalable, and aligned with manufacturing realities. The VP, Packaging Design owns the creative vision and execution, while the technical development and validation sit with our operational partners.

Salary Range

$225,000 - $275,000 USD
