About the Team:

The IT Engineering Support team at PlayStation is dedicated to enhancing the experience for engineers across the company. Our primary mission is to remove friction in daily workflows, providing excellent customer service with end-to-end ownership of issues, and identifying knowledge gaps across teams. We operate at the intersection of IT support and engineering, ensuring our internal engineering community has a seamless and empowering user experience.

Team Objectives:

• Ensure engineering teams receive high-touch, low friction technical support.

• Exhibit extreme ownership of user requests, owning them end-to-end.

• Provide real-time support via Slack support, remote VC, and in person.

• Build scalable automations that reduce manual and repetitive work.

• Serve as the conduit between partner IT teams, application support, and engineering teams. We are the primary interface for all technical engineering requests.

About the Role:

We are looking for a self-starting Systems Administrator who thrives in a dynamic, cross-functional environment and is passionate about bridging the gap between IT support and engineering.

In this role, you will own key IT tools and platforms used by engineering teams and drive automations to simplify repetitive processes. You will also proactively identify and facilitate opportunities to expand the scope of tooling support by collaborating with engineering stakeholders.

This role is ideal for someone who has evolved beyond traditional helpdesk duties and is looking to make a meaningful impact on how engineers work at scale.

You will participate in a live support Slack channel on a rotating schedule, where engineers place live requests. You’ll work closely with engineering teams to uncover and close support gaps, ensuring the best possible experience for our internal developer community.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Own and support tools used by engineering teams, including user support and automation.

• Proactively identify areas for improved support across IT workflows.

• Engage with a real-time support channel for engineering teams, taking full ownership of issues through resolution.

• Collaborate with engineering and partner IT teams to bridge support gaps and align tooling and process improvements.

• Support systems including MacOS, Windows 10/11, Windows Server, Active Directory, Linux (Ubuntu), GitHub and MDM solutions like InTune and Jamf.

• Create scripts and automations (PowerShell, Bash) to streamline processes such as user provisioning, permissions, and reporting.

• Keep systems secure and up-to-date in alignment with InfoSec requirements.

• Document procedures, troubleshooting guides, and contribute to shared team knowledge bases.

 

What We’re Looking For:

 

People Skills:

•  They demonstrate a strong commitment to delivering excellent customer service, particularly when assisting internal engineering teams.

• Independently identifies and addresses problems with a proactive approach.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; comfortable interacting with engineers and IT stakeholders.

 

Process & Ownership:

• Proven ability to take full ownership of technical problems and deliver end-to-end solutions.

• Comfortable working with ambiguous or emerging issues, and helping define support boundaries.

• Experience documenting and improving workflows in a fast-paced environment.

 

Technical Skills:

• Deep experience with MacOS, Windows, and Linux systems administration.

• Familiarity with modern endpoint management tools (e.g., Microsoft InTune, Jamf).

• Experience supporting developer tools, GitHub, and SaaS tooling.

• Working knowledge of automation/scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python a plus).

• Solid understanding of networking, storage, and security fundamentals.

• Backup systems, audit logging, and monitoring experience.

 

Bonus:

• Experience supporting internal developer tools or platforms.

• Previous work on a team focused on developer productivity or IT enablement.

• Understanding of access provisioning workflows and permission models in large organizations.

• Experience with cloud and virtualization platforms (vSphere, AWS), storage systems, backup systems, and endpoint environments.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.

$133,000 - $199,600 USD
