Senior Manager of Trade Shows/Events
In this role you will build and manage our trade show team focused on scoping, planning, and ensuring high-quality activations at conferences across North America.
This is your chance to uplevel and templatize a high-quality aesthetic of our booths across multiple event verticals while ensuring differentiation in positioning and messaging. The goal is to leave a strong mark on attendees as well as experiment on hacky ideas that can quantitatively yield better pipeline outcomes from our trade show motion. This includes orchestrating strong pre-event go-to-market with the demand generation and sales teams as well as building a strong follow-up motion post-event.
We're seeking a self-directed, highly organized individual with a penchant for the unexpected and a track record of successfully project managing large-scale, complex, in-person events.
This role requires you to travel a good portion of the time but otherwise is on-site at our San Mateo HQ so you can best interface with cross-departmental teams.
Roles / Responsibilities
- Hire and manage a national team of highly competent individuals who can together execute upwards of 50 trade show conferences per quarter.
- Implement our North America trade show strategy aligned with Verkada's demand generation goals including identification, evaluation, and selection of relevant industry events.
- Collaborate with sales, product marketing, creative and demand generation teams to define event objectives, messaging, deliverables, speaking slots, and participation.
- Plan and automate pre, during, and post-event social, digital, and online communication, engagement, and measurement with the MOPs team.
- Manage all aspects of events including booth design, materials, shipping, and on-site setup, vendor relationships, contracts, staff scheduling and training, and the many engaging event experiences, including on-site and co-located mini-events, meeting opportunities, and extensions.
- Implement strong follow-up with sales teams and measure results against goals to evaluate future participation, areas of improvement, and alternatives.
Qualifications
- 7-12 years of marketing experience building, executing, and scaling multiple, multi-faceted trade shows.
- At least 2 years of people management experience with strong ability to hire experienced employees with high EQ / IQ.
- Strong event management and project management ability of managing calendars with multiple events running simultaneously.
- Budget management and reporting experience including using metrics to back up assumptions, generate performance forecasts, assess the efficacy of marketing programs using attribution.
- Ability to use marketing and sales CRMs and stacks to build landing pages, automate simple campaigns and send email communications.
- Strong at negotiating with and managing external suppliers, agencies and venues and coordinating a wide range of services, including space allocation, traditional and digital signage, attendee flows, security, food & beverage, temp staff sourcing and management, transportation, giveaways, etc.
- Demonstrable experience creating creative, hacky and unexpected successful event or campaign experiences that yield higher ROI (pipeline/spend)
- The ability to frequently travel including weekends (some holidays) and stays up to a week, to attend highly strategic events, scout locations, or spot-check vendor execution.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent of 4+ additional years of work experience.

Pay Disclosure

With that in mind, we carefully consider a number of factors to determine the appropriate starting pay for an employee, including their primary work location and an assessment of a candidate’s skills and experience, as well as market demands and internal parity. This estimate can vary based on the factors described above, so the actual starting annual base salary may be above or below this range. This estimate is also just one component of Verkada’s total rewards package. A Verkada employee may be eligible for additional forms of compensation, depending on their role, including sales incentives, discretionary bonuses, and/or equity in the company in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
Estimated Annual Pay Range
$140,000 - $200,000 USD
