Summary:
The speech-language pathologist collaborates with the medical, radiation, and surgical oncology teams to provide comprehensive evidence-based and patient/family-centered care for cancer patients with swallowing, voice, and speech disorders.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge and experience in dysphagia, voice, and speech evaluation and management in adult populations.
- Experience working with the laryngectomy population.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to communicate and collaborate with all levels of employees, physicians, patients, and families.
- Experience with fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES) and placement/management of tracheoesophageal voice prostheses preferred.
- Strong computer and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize assigned tasks and the needs of the patients.
- Ability to work autonomously while completing assigned tasks and maintaining workflow needs.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Performs initial patient assessment on assigned patients.
- Implements treatment activities.
- Provides ongoing patient assessment through observation of patient and records. Reports findings in a timely fashion.
- Identifies patient specific Speech Rehabilitation learning needs and provides appropriate education.
- Demonstrates initiative in identifying opportunities for self-development and enhancement of professional competency.
- Performs other job functions as assigned or requested.
Supervision Provided by this Position:
- There are no supervisory roles assigned to this position.
Physical Demands/Conditions:
- Exposure to patient body fluids.
- Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
- Ability to read and write to communicate both orally and in writing with other individuals.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to stand, reach, bend, walk, twist and sit in one place throughout shift.
- Ability to use hands and feet together for repetitive, coordinated motions.
- Ability to use hands for gripping and squeezing as well as repetitive hand and wrist motion.
- Good hand-eye coordination.
