The speech-language pathologist collaborates with the medical, radiation, and surgical oncology teams to provide comprehensive evidence-based and patient/family-centered care for cancer patients with swallowing, voice, and speech disorders.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Knowledge and experience in dysphagia, voice, and speech evaluation and management in adult populations.
Experience working with the laryngectomy population.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to communicate and collaborate with all levels of employees, physicians, patients, and families.
Experience with fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES) and placement/management of tracheoesophageal voice prostheses preferred.
Strong computer and organizational skills.
Ability to prioritize assigned tasks and the needs of the patients.
Ability to work autonomously while completing assigned tasks and maintaining workflow needs.

Key Job Responsibilities:

Performs initial patient assessment on assigned patients.
Implements treatment activities.
Provides ongoing patient assessment through observation of patient and records. Reports findings in a timely fashion.
Identifies patient specific Speech Rehabilitation learning needs and provides appropriate education.
Demonstrates initiative in identifying opportunities for self-development and enhancement of professional competency.
Performs other job functions as assigned or requested.
