Gearbox Entertainment, the developer of hit titles such as Borderlands, Brothers In Arms, and Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, is seeking a talented Visual Effects Artist.

 

What We Need

Gearbox Entertainment is looking for an experienced VFX Art Lead to lead a team of artists for one of our many projects. Working alongside our many talented developers, you will bring your considerable artistic and technical experience to our FX teams to help mentor, guide, create, establish, and execute exciting and industry leading visual effects for our games!

 

What You Will Do

  • Collaborate with Directors, Leads, Designers and Concept Artists for establishing and maintaining high quality visual effects
  • Ensure overall aesthetic quality, excitement, and originality as it relates to other triple-A games, Gearbox’s’ own desires, and Art Director vision
  • Maintain the artistic direction and vision through all phases of the game development
  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the VFX team
  • Provide mentorship, feedback and training to others on the team
  • Drive tools development and pipeline improvements to support the shared vision
  • Proactively seek out creative solutions and ways to improve all aspects of the game and performance
  • Play the game and be a game maker!

 

Who We Think Will Be A Good Fit

You are passionate about advancing your skills, pushing the boundaries of what effects can do in games, and always on the hunt for new VFX techniques. You like mathematics, love to solve logic problems and when you encounter a challenge you persevere until you find a solution. And you always find a solution.

 

  • VFX artist with 7 + years of experience in the games or film industry
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of current visual effects terminology, techniques, and a strong grasp of the technicals as required for FX execution
  • Good sense of timing and weight with regard to effects
  • Experience with Unreal Engine 5, 3DS Max (or Similar modeling tools), Substance Designer, Houdini, and Photoshop.
  • Experience working with engineering to further develop proprietary tools
  • An eye for recreating natural phenomena
  • Comfortable with Mathematical and node-based systems
  • A passion for video games
