A Snapshot
As the DCS (Distributed Control System)/BMS (Building Management System) Service Engineer, you will report to the Senior Manager – DCS Service (who is based in Australia), and work closely with the rest of the Critical Environments team, making your mark in a number of ways:
- Providing technical expertise relating to the DCS with a heavy emphasis on maintenance, system optimisation and root cause analysis
- Ensuring that the existing systems are maintained to the highest possible standards with the ultimate goal: a fine-tuned control system that provides information that can be heavily relied on and quickly address, prevent and/or anticipate any system errors that may arise
- Lead and manage small-scale improvement projects aimed at enhancing system performance and efficiency.
- Being part of a wider in-sourced DCS Service & Support Team supporting infrastructure across the whole of Asia
Your Day to Day
- DCS and CMS Maintenance: Fully maintain the Distributed Control System (DCS) and Central Monitoring System (CMS) from servers to field devices across multiple sites, ensuring efficient operation as per the maintenance scope of works. This includes conducting system backups, ensuring ICT and cybersecurity compliance, and updating firmware/software in collaboration with 3rd party providers.
- Optimization and Risk Mitigation: Provide risk-mitigated plant optimization strategies, including system optimization and energy efficiency initiatives. Analyze vast amounts of data to generate actionable insights and recommendations, using analytics-based approaches to enhance system performance and reliability.
- Incident Management and Technical Support: Attend to controls-related incidents, including event investigations, root cause analysis, and problem management. Provide L1 to L3 technical support across site teams and other locations as required, ensuring adherence to response priority SLAs.
- Niagara Diagnostics and Communication Protocols: Address performance issues within Niagara applications, ensuring optimal functionality. Maintain communication protocols at peak efficiency, resolving issues that cause lags or high processor utilization.
- Collaboration and Site Confidence: Work closely with site operations teams during maintenance activities, ensuring open communication and integration with site teams to build strong relationships and confidence in system operations. Contribute to the successful resolution of post-construction controls-related defects.
- Continual Improvement and Project Delivery: Lead and support DCS-related projects aimed at system optimization and operational improvements that benefit data center facilities. Ensure adherence to system baselines, safe work practices, and change management procedures.
