Staff Materials Engineer (Castings)

As the Staff Materials Engineer (Castings), you will be responsible for:
- Serve as the primary technical authority for complex casting processes, including high-pressure die casting and semi-permanent molding.
- Partner with design engineers to evaluate manufacturing feasibility, offering expert guidance on material selection, heat treatment processes, and defining part-specific acceptance criteria.
- Develop and author material and process standards, ensuring consistency and high-quality results in casting operations.
- Lead the development and execution of qualification plans to validate casting designs against engineering requirements and performance standards.
- Investigate and resolve process-related issues, using root cause analysis to implement sustainable corrective actions.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement in casting technologies, with a focus on optimizing efficiency and material properties.
- Coordinate with CAE teams to validate casting designs through simulation and physical testing, ensuring alignment with engineering specifications.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 6 years in casting or process engineering, with hands-on experience in product design and development.
- Deep understanding of process-structure-property relationships in cast materials.
- Solid working knowledge of casting manufacturing methods and best practices.
- Proficiency in running casting flow simulations to improve product design and reduce casting defects.
- Expertise in evaluating material properties through a first principles approach, ensuring the integrity and performance of cast materials.
- Practical experience with standard laboratory equipment and metal testing procedures.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Materials Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a closely related field.
Salary Range: $100,000 - $130,000
The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate’s combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience.
