
CAE Structural Engineer

As the CAE Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Perform durability analysis of vehicle structures using finite element analysis (FEA) tools such as Optistruct, Abaqus, and Hyperview/META.
- Utilize LS-Dyna for crash analysis of battery systems and components based on CAD data.
- Collaborate with design engineers and suppliers to gather material properties and connection information for analysis.
- Post-process and report CAE results to design engineers, proposing feasible design changes for optimization.
- Leverage analysis results to establish performance requirements and design boundaries for components or materials.
- Use analytical findings to guide physical test plans for validation of designs.
- Lead the development and implementation of processes and strategies to optimize the analysis and delivery of battery systems.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with 7+ years of experience; Master's degree with 5+ years; or PhD with 3+ years of experience.
- Proficiency in Optistruct, Abaqus, Hyperview/META, and LS-Dyna, particularly in the context of automotive structures.
- Strong foundation in solid mechanics, materials science, and structural analysis.
- Experience with CATIA and the ability to build FEA models from CAD data.
- Knowledge and experience in designing and developing component and sub-system tests.
- Ability to prepare and present formal reports summarizing analysis results.
- Familiarity with material properties related to automotive structures.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- Strong understanding of the first-principle physics behind automotive body structures and energy management.
- In-depth knowledge of automotive design, development processes, and system requirements.
Salary Range: $85,000 - $95,000
The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate’s combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience.
