About the role:

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Director of Investment Compliance to join our growing team in Singapore. This is a critical role that will be responsible for applying and managing our Capital Markets Services (CMS) license and overseeing all compliance matters related to our investment activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the regulatory landscape in Singapore, particularly as it relates to the financial technology and payments industries. They will also have a proven track record of building and implementing effective compliance programs.

What will you be doing? 

  • Lead the application and ongoing management of our CMS license, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive investment compliance program that addresses all relevant risks and regulatory obligations.
  • Monitor and analyze regulatory developments and industry best practices to ensure our compliance program remains current and effective.
  • Conduct regular compliance risk assessments and identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide training and guidance to employees on compliance policies and procedures.
  • Investigate and resolve compliance incidents and escalate issues to senior management as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators, legal counsel, and auditors.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Law, Finance or other related field.
  • 8+ years of relevant working experience in a regulatory compliance role.
  • Payments, FinTech, Banking, Financial Institution, or other relevant experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of the regulatory landscape in Singapore, including the Securities and Futures Act and related regulations.
  • Experience in applying for and managing CMS licenses.
  • Strong understanding of compliance risk management frameworks and best practices.
  • Able to work independently to manage compliance and regulatory matters as it relates to investments.
  • Demonstrated experience managing relationships with different regulators, with a keen understanding of the different temperaments and requirements.
  • A builder mindset, with a demonstrated track record of taking initiative and driving results.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree or professional certification in a related field.
  • Experience working with regulators, such as the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS).
  • Familiarity with data privacy regulations, such as the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA).
  • 0-1 start-up experience is a HUGE plus
