Cloud Engineer
Please Note: This is a Utah-based hybrid position which will require some regular in-office days each week. Additionally, employment with BambooHR is contingent on passing both a background and credit check.
Essential Job Duties
As a Cloud Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our cloud infrastructure. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of our cloud-based systems. The ideal candidate is passionate about cloud technologies, possesses strong problem-solving skills, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
This position requires in-depth knowledge and understanding of various areas of specialization, principles, and practices within Cloud implementation. A Cloud Engineer may be involved in a wide range of projects which require clarity of thought, building on experience, and working within a team. A Cloud Engineer designs and creates tools and processes that provide ease of use solutions for the broader organization.
You will:
- Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure solutions to support the company's applications and services.
- Collaborate with software developers and administrators to ensure seamless integration of cloud services into existing infrastructure.
- Implement and maintain cloud security measures, including access controls, encryption, and monitoring, to protect sensitive data and comply with industry regulations.
- Optimize cloud infrastructure performance and cost-effectiveness through continuous monitoring, platform tuning, and capacity planning.
- Automate repetitive tasks and streamline deployment processes using configuration management tools and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure-related issues, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum uptime for critical services.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging cloud technologies and best practices, and evaluate their potential impact on the company's infrastructure strategy.
What You Need to Get the Job Done
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2-5 years of experience in Cloud infrastructure, DevOps, SRE, or related disciplines.
- Ideally you have experience of using Kubernetes to deploy and manage containerized applications.
- You will be touching Terraform code regularly, so experience in this IAC Tool is very important and experience of Helm/Yaml is highly desirable.
- Experience using GitHub Actions to provide developer self-service workflows is beneficial.
- Proven experience designing, implementing, and managing cloud infrastructure solutions using AWS.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, and load balancing.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation using languages such as Python, Bash, etc.
- Strong knowledge of security best practices and experience implementing security controls in cloud environments.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
- Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect) are highly desirable.
