Developers at Box routinely face challenges of serving millions of requests per second, while providing enterprise-grade uptime, consistency and performance guarantees. Our goal is to let them focus on business logic, while we make sure the data layer lives up to their requirements. The Credence team’s mission is to provide highly-available, consistent and easy-to-use services for uniform access to relational data. As a member of this team, you will have a unique opportunity to shape the future of data at Box.
Collaborating with several teams across our relational data tier, you will develop and scale our distributed data access service with an emphasis on availability, performance, and data consistency. You will engage with client teams to understand their use cases and continually improve the usability of our data access libraries and services, while also evangelizing the proper use of these libraries across the organization. With our new home in the cloud, you will also help build out our data tier to become more scalable and performant than ever before. WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Collaborate with the team on defining the vision for the relational data access tier in the cloud and to evolve our systems towards it
- Design novel approaches to addressing scale and observability challenges associated with exponentially increased usage of our data tier
- Continually improve the availability and performance of our relational data platform while ensuring consistency and supporting increasing traffic volume
- Develop client libraries for accessing our relational data platform and promote their proper use across the engineering organization
- Understand client use cases to improve the usability of our data access services, thereby facilitating rapid feature development for application developers on Box's growing platform
WHO YOU ARE
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field
- 4+ years of professional software development experience
- Proficient in common algorithms, data structures, and code design principles
- Experience developing high-scale distributed systems
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with MySQL, Memcached, and/or Redis
- Passionate about solving database scale and performance challenges
- Strong sense of ownership, persistence, and drive
- Excellent communication skills
