Backend Software Engineer III (RWC, CA)

We're looking for experienced and collaborative Backend Software Engineers to join our growing team. This pooled requisition is intended to identify top engineering talent for multiple backend-focused roles across different product and infrastructure teams. As a Software Engineer III, you'll be working on high-impact projects that power core backend services, distributed systems, APIs, and developer platforms that scale to millions of users.
You will partner closely with product managers, frontend engineers, DevOps, and data teams to build robust and performant systems that help our users achieve more. We're looking for engineers who thrive in ambiguity, enjoy solving hard technical problems, and value quality and maintainability.
WHAT YOU'LL DO

Design and implement scalable backend services, APIs, and microservices

Write clean, testable, and efficient code across the software stack

Partner with cross-functional teams to design technical solutions for complex problems

Own key parts of the backend architecture and contribute to its long-term evolution

Review code, mentor junior engineers, and help raise the engineering bar across teams

Improve performance, reliability, and observability of existing systems

Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from requirements to release
- Participate in our on-call rotation, available at all times while on-call to help respond to and triage any issues that arise

3+ years of experience building backend systems in production environments

Proficiency in one or more backend languages (e.g., Java, Python, C++)

Experience with distributed systems, RESTful APIs, service-oriented architecture, and databases (SQL and/or NoSQL)

Strong understanding of systems design, data structures, and algorithms

Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure)

Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and contribute to backend architecture discussions

Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
