The Opportunity
At Commvault, we believe great decisions are driven by great data. As a Security Analytics Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, enhancing, and maintaining custom security dashboards that bring together data from across security tools and other IT environments.
These dashboards will provide both technical and business leaders with clear, actionable insights—highlighting what’s working, where to focus, and how to continuously improve. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to define meaningful metrics and shape how success is measured, visualized, and communicated across the organization
What You’ll Do
- Design, build, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports that deliver clear visibility into operational, security, and engineering performance.
- Partner with security leadership and stakeholders to define meaningful KPIs and metrics, translating business needs into actionable Power BI insights.
- Develop and optimize Power BI data models (semantic models), DAX measures, and Power Query (M) transformations to ensure accurate, scalable reporting.
- Integrate and consolidate data from multiple systems (APIs, databases, flat files) into Power BI datasets and dataflows for a unified, reliable view.
- Create intuitive, interactive visualizations and reports tailored for both technical teams and executive audiences.
- Improve data quality, governance, and documentation within the Power BI environment.
- Automate reporting through scheduled refreshes, dataflows, and Power BI Service, reducing manual data collection.
- Continuously iterate on dashboards using stakeholder feedback and evolving business requirements.
- Monitor and maintain the health, performance, and reliability of the Power BI reporting ecosystem.
Who You Are
- 4+ years of experience in BI, analytics, or data engineering, with strong hands-on Power BI expertise.
- Deep experience with Power BI (Desktop & Service), including DAX, Power Query (M), and data modeling best practices.
- Strong SQL skills with the ability to shape and transform data for analytics.
- Experience integrating data from diverse sources (APIs, databases, flat files) into Power BI.
- Proven ability to define metrics, build semantic models, and validate data accuracy.
- Able to translate ambiguous business questions into clear, actionable Power BI dashboards.
- Strong collaboration skills, comfortable working with both technical teams and executive stakeholders.
- Familiarity with broader BI tools (Tableau, Looker, etc.) is a plus, but Power BI is your core strength.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with cloud data platforms and modern data pipelines.
- Exposure to SaaS or cloud-native environments.
- Interest in turning metrics into stories that drive action.
