Fixed Asset Manager
SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE
This role is responsible for leading the company’s capital expenditure (CAPEX) and fixed asset processes from end to end. This includes managing CAPEX approvals, maintaining accurate fixed asset records, and delivering timely, meaningful reporting and analysis. The role works closely with business leaders and the accounting team to ensure capital projects are tracked accurately and aligned with company policies and accounting standards, supporting both operational and financial transparency.
Essential Functions
- Lead and manage the full lifecycle of the CAPEX process, including intake, approval workflows, tracking, and documentation.
- Maintain a comprehensive and accurate listing of all fixed asset purchases, ensuring they are properly tied to approved CAPEX requests.
- Manage and maintain the fixed asset subledger in Sage, including asset additions, transfers, disposals, and depreciation.
- Prepare and reconcile the monthly fixed asset roll forward, ensuring completeness and accuracy of balances.
- Prepare and distribute monthly reporting on year-to-date CAPEX spend by functional area and individual requests
- Assist the Business Unit Controller with CAPEX project tracking and reporting to ensure timely and accurate reports
- Support the accounting team in the month-end and year-end close process related to fixed assets.
- Ensure compliance with internal capital policies and accounting standards (e.g., GAAP) related to capitalization thresholds, asset useful lives, and depreciation methods.
- Support business partners by answering CAPEX and fixed asset-related questions and providing ad hoc reporting and analysis as needed.
- Continuously identify and implement process improvements to streamline and enhance the fixed asset and CAPEX tracking process.
Competencies/Skills/Abilities
- BS Degree in Accounting or related field required, CPA/CMA is a plus
- 5+ years of fixed asset accounting experience
- Excellent organization, analytical and communication skills
- Fluent in Microsoft Office with advanced knowledge of Excel
- Ability to multi-task and work within specified timeframes
- Ability to work in a fast paced, self-directed environment
- Willingness to contribute new ideas and feedback related to potential areas for improvements
- Experience with Sage Fixed Assets is a plus
