Software Engineer, CloudKitchens, Aarhus

Aarhus, Denmark

Who we are

CloudKitchens helps restaurateurs around the world succeed in online food delivery - our goal is to make food more affordable, higher quality and convenient for everyone.

We take underutilized properties and transform them into smart kitchens so they can better serve restaurateurs, customers and the neighborhoods they’re in. Every time we launch a new facility we create jobs in that neighborhood, and we’re proud to provide a wide range of cuisines and options for healthy food at an affordable price.

We're changing the game for restaurateurs whether they’re entrepreneurs opening their first restaurant all the way through to your favorite global quick-service restaurant chains.

What You'll do

  • Architect for Scale: Design and develop microservices that can handle thousands of transactions per second—with resiliency, observability, and maintainability baked in.

  • Own the Core: Lead backend architecture decisions and push the limits of performance, scalability, and fault tolerance across the platform.

  • Craft Clean APIs: Build well-documented, high-performance APIs to serve everything from real-time kitchen operations to third-party integrations.

  • Powerful Data Flows: Work with relational and NoSQL databases to design data models that are scalable, consistent, and fast.

  • Test + Ship + Repeat: Write clean, testable code and improve CI/CD pipelines to ship confidently and frequently.

  • Collaborate at Velocity: Partner with product, design, and frontend engineering to shape the roadmap and deliver features with tangible business impact.

 What we're looking for

  • 7–10 years of hands-on backend development experience in high-growth or high-performance environments.

  • Deep knowledge of at least one modern backend language: Java, Kotlin, Golang, C++, or C#.

  • Proven experience building microservices and event-driven systems at scale.

  • Comfortable working in a cloud-native stack (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Strong grasp of system design, concurrency, and distributed systems.

  • Familiar with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and agile development practices.

  • Bonus if you’ve worked with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, or message queues like Kafka or RabbitMQ.

Nice to Haves:

  • Previous experience in real estate tech, food logistics, or marketplace platforms.

  • Leadership experience or a passion for mentoring junior engineers.

  • Knowledge of secure coding practices and scalable architecture patterns.
