The LA28 organizing committee is an independent, non-profit organization that is privately funded and governed by a board of directors.

Senior Manager Health & Safety
The Venues and Infrastructure (VNI) team plays a critical role in delivering competition and non-competition venues that are functional, innovative, and fully accessible for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. As part of the larger Sport and Games Delivery group, the VNI team ensures that all venues are designed, developed, and delivered with the highest standards for functionality, sustainability, and inclusion.
Reporting to the VP, Infrastructure, the Sr. Manager, Health & Safety will lead the health and safety efforts for VNI. The Sr. Manager will prepare the health and safety strategy, including the execution plan, the resourcing, and interface management; lead VNI health and safety efforts during the delivery of the venues; and manage a team of health and safety specialists and subject matter experts for the construction works. In addition, the Sr. Manager will take an integral role working with our delivery partners to ensure compliance and coordination with LA28 requirements. This role will require deep collaboration across Venue Management, Legal, Risk, Procurement functional areas, as well as partners and suppliers.
The successful candidate will have established, led, and managed multi-site health and safety teams for complex infrastructure projects and/or large-scale temporary events.
Key Responsibilities:
Health and Safety Leader
- Foster a culture of safety and ensure a safe work environment by partnering with company, site, and contractors’ safety leadership. Empower site-teams to own health and safety practices and results
- Prepare health and safety strategy and policy documents for VNI, in coordination for overall LA28 health and safety. This includes the resourcing plan, the execution plan, as well as key interfaces
- Advise and report to LA28 leadership on health and safety trends, emerging risks, and evolving regulations to ensure alignment with organization goals
- Coordinate cross-functional teams to address health and safety issues
- Lead comprehensive risk assessment for VNI activities and develop mitigation strategies for all venues
Site Safety Leader
- Hire and lead a team internal and external site health and safety specialists
- Conduct site safety orientations for all staff, contractors, and suppliers on the project sites
- Identify unsafe conditions and behaviors, recommend and implement corrective actions
- Conduct, lead, or support accident investigation, perform root cause analysis, and communicate findings and preventative measures
- Develop and maintain site-specific health and safety documentation, including manuals, checklists, procedures, and training records
Health and Safety Management
- Conduct continuous improvement activities to validate and improve safety plan
- Monitor and audit site activities and reports to LA28 and VNI standards. Ensure health and safety compliance of all contractors, suppliers, and staff on site
- Participate in relevant regulatory certifications, compliance reporting, and other safety training
Background & Qualifications:
- Minimum 7-10 years of experience in health and safety leadership, including multi-site supervision
- Experience in construction works, including complex infrastructure and temporary events. Prior Olympic & Paralympic Games and major events experience a plus
- Expert knowledge of construction and site health and safety regulations and best practices, including OSHA/CalOSHA, working at heights, confined spaces, heat and illness prevention, etc.
- Experience leading teams of full-time and contracted workforce
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Work in office at Los Angeles HQ with some travel to supplier and venues
Education:
- Bachelor's degree Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Construction Management or related field
- Relevant Health & Safety certifications (e.g. OSHA 30-hrs)
- Project management certification desired

The annual base salary range for this position is $115,000.00 - $130,000.00. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
