Social Media Lead

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands (Hybrid: 2-3 days per week in the office)
Type: 12-month FTC with potential to extend


Role Mission

We are looking for a Social Media Lead to join our team in-house at a global FMCG brand in Amsterdam. This role will define, lead, and support a team of Social Media Managers and Content Creators working on globally loved brands.

You will oversee the team’s work, partner with clients, and ensure social strategies are executed effectively. While you won’t personally own specific channels, you’ll maintain close relationships with brand stakeholders and share accountability for performance.

Our ideal candidate combines strategic social expertise, client servicing skills, and people management experience. You should thrive in a hands-on environment across social media, video, imagery, strategy, data analytics, and integrated campaigns. A sharp creative eye and excellent communication skills - both written and verbal - are essential.


What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead social media and content implementation, embedding best practices
  • Review reactive opportunities and cultural trends to protect and maximize brand impact
  • Oversee social channel strategies and content recommendations
  • Collaborate with data teams on reporting and benchmarking
  • Act as a trusted voice to clients, supporting big-ticket social deliverables
  • Drive new business opportunities, pitches, and proposals

Personnel Management:

  • Set expectations, review work, mentor and coach team members
  • Handle HR admin (holidays, reviews, feedback)

Client Management:

  • Manage client feedback and team structure adjustments
  • Ensure smooth collaboration with client services and project management teams

Social Media Leadership:

  • Stay ahead of trends and best practices
  • Oversee content calendars, reporting, and major deliverables
  • Support cross-department communications and attend client presentations

Required Skills

  • 8+ years’ experience in social media (agency or client-side)
  • Proven experience managing and inspiring teams
  • Deep understanding of social platforms, trends, and cultural impact on brand marketing
  • Strong grasp of compelling social creative and integrated campaigns
  • Skilled at client management and balancing multiple priorities
