This individual will be responsible for on-site support and maintenance of hardware in our data centers and will act as the technical point of contact for 3rd-party engineers performing installations, repairs, or audits. When not working on-site, this role provides an opportunity to assist with system administration tasks to help ensure the reliability and security of our platform infrastructure. This role is critical in maintaining uptime and physical security across our global data center footprint.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine and ad-hoc hardware maintenance, including replacing hard drives, memory, network components, and equipment refresh across server and networking equipment.
- Escort and supervise third-party vendors and engineers during scheduled on-site visits, ensuring security and compliance protocols are followed.
- Support rack and stack activities, including server installations, cable management, labeling, power management, and inventory tracking.
- Conduct site inspections, environmental checks, quarterly audits, and enforce physical access control procedures.
- Maintain detailed records of asset movements and interventions in ticketing, asset tracking systems, and update monitoring tools.
- Assist the system admin and network teams with on-site system administration tasks.
- Collaborate with the broader infrastructure and security teams to support data center best practices, standard operating procedures, and compliance requirements.
- Responding to hardware-related alerts (e.g., temperature spikes, power loss, equipment failure)
Qualifications:
- 2–4 years of hands-on experience in a data center environment.
- Strong working knowledge of server hardware, cabling standards, and data center operations.
- Comfortable with physical tasks: lifting equipment, crawling under racks, managing structured cabling.
- Familiarity with Windows and Linux system administration, particularly basic CLI usage and scripting.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to document work clearly and accurately; compliance with processes and procedures.
- Good communication and coordination skills for working with remote teams and vendors.
- Must be able to travel between data center locations, domestically as well as internationally.
- Certifications such as CompTIA Server+, Linux+, or DCIM-related training are a plus.
