Who we are looking for:
Slate looking for a dynamic, experienced Customer Quality and APQP Engineer to join our growing team. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Quality Engineer to assist with the implementation of a comprehensive customer quality process from the ground up. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing a system that enhances customer satisfaction, minimizes risk, and ensures that the Voice of the Customer is communicated throughout the organization.
This role will be in a Central Midwest location in a highly desirable mid-sized community. You will need to relocate to this area or be able to travel extensively.
What you get to do:
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist in the creation and management of the quality planning process and procedures
- Be the Subject Matter Expert in AIAG APQP and PPAP
- Collaborate with Quality Engineering and Supplier Quality teams to coordinate planning of key deliverables to achieve PPAP on time
- Assist in the management of the Voice of Customer (VoC) process and procedure development and execution including (VoC) auditing.
- Analyze warranty data for customer impact (e.g.) JD Power and Consumer Report data
- Establish clear quality standards with craftsmanship for internal process control development
- Review the internal scorecards and KPI’s for risk evaluation
- Collaborate with craftsmanship, engineering and additional stakeholders on part appearance requirements and sign off (AAR)
- Color Harmony Event /Fit and Finish review planning, procedure development as well as ongoing participation
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Manage stakeholder relationships and inputs
- Assist in supplier development relative to APQP, Customer Specifics and Expectations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, and customer service, to gather input and integrate customer quality considerations into product development and support.
- Collaboration across the commercial team, engineering, quality and manufacturing teams.
- Ensure customer quality data is available for CI within different departments to drive improvements in quality.
- Participate in regular industry training sessions and conferences to stay updated on the latest trends.
- Report on customer quality and VOC KPI’s for engineering and manufacturing with the Quality Management System (QMS) and Quality department.
- Occasional travel required
What you bring to the team:
Educational Background:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, engineering or related field.
Work Experience:
- Minimum of 8 years quality management or related experience. Prior launch experience required. Prior Start up experience preferred
Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of customer quality, supplier quality, manufacturing processes and quality control.
- Experience with a system implementation and onboarding a new quality management system
- Proficient in QMS software (preferred – Windchill)
- Demonstrated ability to hire, lead and train teams (preferred)
- Ability to easily collaborate and communicate with multiple disciplines within the company to achieve goals
- Industry Knowledge of quality standards, procedures, auditing, APQP, PPAP, IATF, VDA, technical writing, and Quality system management implementation
- Deep understanding of manufacturing environments and problem solving
- Deep understanding of craftsmanship/AAR and color standards
- Must be able to validate color to color plaque standards

Base salary - US wide $91,876 - $148,619
The stated pay scale reflects the range that Re:Car reasonably expects to pay for this position. The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices. In addition to base pay, Re:Car also offers short-term and long-term incentive programs – 401k match, annual bonus and company equity, based on eligibility, along with a robust offering of benefit and wellness plans, HSA/FSA.
