Sol de Janeiro is looking for a Director, Global Talent & Partnerships, to shape how we connect with the world’s most influential voices. This role will lead VIP and celebrity partnerships—crafting moments that feel personal, buzz-worthy, and unmistakably Sol de Janeiro. You’ll build standout relationships, manage high-profile collaborations, and bring fresh idas to life that set a new standard for connection and cultural impact.  

This candidate will understand the balance between strategic and creative thinking, approaching VIP and celebrity engagement with an entrepreneurial mindset. They will possess an exceptional network of influential relationships built on trust and professionalism that can be leveraged to bring bold, innovative campaigns to life at any moment.

Reporting to the Vice President, Global PR & Brand Communications, this role will oversee the Senior Manager, Global PR & Strategic Partnerships. It’s an unparalleled opportunity to shape Sol de Janeiro’s global presence, leading our approach to VIP and celebrity relationships and ensuring the brand remains a cultural leader and innovator in the beauty industry. 

This role is based in the US, preferably in the NY area. The role is a hybrid role, with 2-3 days required in office. This position may require up to 40% travel, including domestic and international trips. Travel frequency and duration may vary depending on project requirements and business needs. Candidates should be prepared to accommodate travel demands and possess necessary documentation for international travel, such as valid passports and visas. 

 

Overall Responsibilities: 

  • Lead VIP/Celebrity Strategy: Develop and implement a growth-driven, innovative global approach to VIP and celebrity relationships. Focus on creating buzz-worthy experiences, exclusive content, and meaningful connections that elevate the brand’s equity, deepen consumer affinity, and strengthen Sol de Janeiro’s cultural impact. 
  • Brand Partnership Activation: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product Marketing and Consumer Engagement, to activate brand partnerships that enhance cultural relevance and drive business leadership. Serve as the key point of contact for executing high-impact activations. 
  • Manage VIP & Celebrity Relationships: Oversee global VIP and celebrity ambassador programming including partnerships chart including seeding + gifting, ensuring always on-brand approach through impactful campaigns and strategic activations. 
  • Collaborate with Leadership and Teams: Partner with senior leadership, marketing, and cross-functional teams to align VIP and celebrity initiatives with the communications calendar, business goals, and the overarching brand vision, mission, and culture. 
  • Drive Campaign Innovation: Collaborate with Global Consumer Engagement and regional marketing teams to craft cutting-edge VIP and celebrity campaign strategies for key product launches and campaigns. This includes identifying celebrity archetypes and creative approaches tailored to performance objectives. 
  • Curate Exclusive Offerings: Design premium and bespoke gifting/seedings and high-profile event concepts that can be executed at the regional level, reinforcing brand prestige and desirability. 
  • Measure Impact: Establish clear goals and track KPIs to ensure programs deliver strong ROI, drive acquisition, and contribute to overall brand growth. 
  • Contract Negotiation: Oversee VIP and celebrity contract creation, revisions, and negotiations in partnership with Legal and Indirect Procurement teams. 
  • Stay Ahead of Trends: Remain at the forefront of celebrity culture and emerging trends across key platforms while monitoring competitors and industry movements to extract insights and recommendations. 
  • Discover and Cultivate Talent: Identify and nurture high-profile talent and celebrities who authentically align with Sol de Janeiro’s brand values. Build long-lasting relationships with top-tier advocates to achieve unparalleled retention rates and maximize brand visibility. 

Qualifications & Experience: 

  • Bachelor's degree in public relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field. 
  • 7-10+ years of extensive experience in global VIP and celebrity strategy with a proven track record of executing high-impact campaigns. 
  • Established network of A-list talent, publicists, agents, and managers. 
  • Exceptional ability to manage and scale relationships with tact and diplomacy. 
  • Strategic thinker with strong creative instincts and an entrepreneurial approach. 
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with a focus on delivering excellence. 
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to craft and convey clear, persuasive messages to diverse audiences. 
  • Strong leadership and project management skills, capable of managing multiple initiatives simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail. 
  • A passion for beauty, culture, and storytelling that drives deep consumer connections. 
  • Proficient in digital communication tools and social media platforms for campaign purposes. 
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to drive strategic decisions and improvements. 
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently while also being a strong team player. 
  • Adaptable, comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Salary Range

$150,000 - $160,000 USD

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for participation in a highly competitive bonus program with the possibility for overachievement based on performance and company results.
