Sr Software Development Engineer in Test (Contractor)

San Francisco, CA (Hybrid)

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Review product requirements and design documents to understand how the feature works and build effective testing strategies.

  • Drive the QA Plan for UI testing; build concrete test plans, write solid test cases, and implement them to ensure the quality of features. Identify testing needs for l10n, a11y, and performance testing.

  • Plan and implement automated tests for applications on and off the PlayStation console.

  • Work closely with developers to ensure that all features and bug fixes come with automated test coverage.

  • Maintain and enhance existing Python based automation framework

  • Engage in cross-team test initiatives for new and evolving features

  • Drive high standards of quality for both engineering decisions and customer-facing features

  • Report, track and verify defects

  • Understanding of layered architecture of a software and how to effectively test such a system.

  • Passionate about Quality and strives to improve process, proposes standard methodologies and drives their usage across multiple teams.

  • Mentor other team members to level-up the skills and quality of the team, and provide advice to teams within engineering.

  • Promote use of automation across teams to improve speed of testing.

  • Monitor and maintain various Jenkins jobs and report statuses.

  • Work with globally distributed teams to engage early and provide continuous delivery of high quality software products that delight Sony customers

  • Interact and work on a day-to-day basis with various stakeholders outside of QE organization.

  • Work in a fast paced software release environment.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or ability to demonstrate equivalent knowledge.

  • At least 3 years or equivalent experience in advanced UI automation for web applications.

  • Previous experience writing automated tests in Python and Pytest.

  • Experience developing or testing on a non-console setup (mobile, windows, web, etc.)

  • Experience with Selenium or Appium.

  • Experience with at least one modern web application framework, preferably React

  • Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Able to work both independently and collaboratively as needed.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

$56 - $85 USD
