What we’re looking for
We are seeking a Staff Frontend Engineer to join the Market Research Solutions (MRX) team at SurveyMonkey. As a key technical leader, you will drive the development of intuitive and high-performance user experiences that empower millions of users to make critical business decisions. This role is pivotal in shaping the architecture, scalability, and maintainability of our frontend applications while mentoring engineers and advocating for best practices.
You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and backend engineers, to ensure our solutions are user-centric, performant, and scalable. What you’ll be working on
- Architecting and developing robust, scalable, and high-performance frontend applications using modern JavaScript frameworks (React preferred).
- Driving technical excellence by leading frontend initiatives, defining best practices, and mentoring engineers to elevate frontend development across the organization.
- Collaborating with product and design teams to deliver intuitive and accessible user interfaces that improve the overall customer experience.
- Enhancing frontend performance, security and scalability, ensuring applications are optimized for responsiveness, accessibility, and efficiency.
- Owning the entire development lifecycle, from technical design and implementation to deployment and monitoring, ensuring high-quality and maintainable code.
- Actively contributing to architecture and frontend guilds, staying ahead of industry trends, evaluating emerging technologies, and championing innovation in frontend development.
We’d love to hear from people with
- 12+ years of experience in frontend development, with deep expertise in JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Extensive experience with React.js (or similar modern frontend frameworks such as Angular or Vue.js) and state management libraries like Redux, Zustand, or Recoil.
- Strong understanding of design patterns, micro-frontends, and modular architectures.
- Experience with performance optimization techniques, accessibility best practices (WCAG), and responsive web design.
- Proficiency in collaborating with backend teams, working with RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and WebSockets.
- Proven track record of leading large-scale, complex frontend projects.
- Experience mentoring engineers and driving technical initiatives across teams.
- Exposure to frontend build tools (Webpack, Vite, Babel) and testing frameworks (Jest, Cypress, React Testing Library).
- Experience with WebAssembly, Web Components, or Progressive Web Apps.
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and frontend observability tools.
- Experience with building and deploying applications in cloud environments (AWS preferred).

As such, this opportunity is hybrid and requires you to work from the SurveyMonkey office in Bengaluru 3 days per week.
