About the Role:
We are looking for a Product Designer to join our New Initiatives team, which focuses on the newer products in Upgrade’s offerings, including our checking and savings products, home improvement loan products and our design system and mobile app. The role demands great execution, an obsession with quality, and creative problem solving for users and business goals. As a Product Designer, you can concept, design, and present solutions that solve user and business problems, delivering measurable outcomes for the team.
This is a fully hybrid role, working from our San Francisco office on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
What You'll Do:
- Work cross-functionally with product, marketing, and engineering in partnership with senior designers to incorporate UI / UX best practices
- Work on mobile and responsive web experiences for both B2B and B2C products including our checking and savings, home improvement loans and our mobile app
- Create flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity visuals for your features
- Use a combination of data analytics, user testing, user research and industry standards and research to inform and validate design decisions and focus on constant improvement
- Think about design as a system, contributing to and maintaining our evolving design system in order to influence quality and efficiency for all our teams and products
- Help shape the internal design process and the culture of our growing design team
What We Look For:
- 2+ years professional hands-on Product Design experience
- Degree in UCI, UX, Interaction Design, or related field is preferred
- Experience designing in Figma, our team’s tool of choice
- Ability to collaborate with designers, strategists, managers, and technologists.
- Strong user-centric mindset
- Problem defining and solving mentality
- Passion for UX design and enthusiasm for learning
- Understanding of design principles and an ability to intentionally design logical, clean UI
- Ability to effectively communicate design rationale to internal teams and other stakeholders
- Solid portfolio demonstrating passion and excellence in product design
Nice to Have
- Experience with digital banking or interest in the fintech space
- Experience with both B2B and B2C product design
- Interactive prototyping skills
- Experience working on design systems

The compensation range of this position in San Francisco, CA is $100,000 - $130,000 USD annually plus equity and benefits. Within this range, an individual's base pay will be dependent on a variety of factors, including without limitation, job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience.
