Online Community Manager
About the Team
As a Community Manager at Vonage, you will primarily work on identifying and establishing relationships with key developer communities and community leaders in the online space, in order to understand their needs, and build a collaborative environment to ensure we can authentically and effectively serve them. You will work as part of a global Developer Relations team whose goal is to raise awareness of Vonage within developer communities, run engaging physical and online events and campaigns and gather actionable product feedback through community building activities.
The Community team comprises a Head of Community and three Community Managers (covering EMEA, APAC,US and Global). All Community Managers work on global initiatives, and this Online Community Manager position serves all regions.
What you will do
- Manage the Developer Community Slack channel, including strategic changes to communication, reward and recognition and support for developer community members
- Manage the developer content for all Vonage developer social platforms, including but not limited to X, Bluesky, LinkedIn, StackOverflow and Github
- Manage the planning and running of online developer events, webinars, hackathons and product feedback activities in collaboration with the Developer Relations and Product teams
- Establish and manage all systems, tooling and processes needed to efficiently deliver all aspects of managing the online community and planning
- Use tooling to track, understand and report on insights and analytics to inform the online community strategy and activities
- Conceptualise and run recruitment and promotional activities to engage the developer community around Vonage products
- Collaborate with other departments within Vonage to promote Developer Relations internally and externally
- Create and deliver the strategy for driving online awareness of Vonage products through related content for social media, blogs and other media
- Manage and distribute an online Community Rewards program to incentivise community members
- Participate in other developer community initiatives as needed
- Manage future Vonage developer champion programs end to end
What you will bring
A deep understanding of online developer networks and market dynamics to create initiatives that resonate with the developer audience. Must be skilled in re-engaging existing community members with a focus on engagement over growth. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about both designing and executing initiatives, balancing strategic planning with hands-on delivery.
Qualifications
Required
- Experience of managing a Community or highly contributing as a member of a community.
- Experience of managing events from ideation to execution.
- Project management experience working cross-functionally and with all levels of management.
- Experience of managing technical questions through a support function, Stackoverflow or a developer community.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. We primarily communicate in English, but other languages are always a plus!
Desired
- Experience in creating simple design assets.
- Ability to write basic code snippets in any language of your choosing.
- Experience speaking at developer conferences, user groups, or meetups.
- Experience running a developer champion, ambassador or similar program.
