Zip US is experiencing substantial growth, which is increasing the funding requirements of the US business and adding the need for a new role that is focused on Finance Operations and Treasury management. As the Senior Operations Analyst on Zip’s Treasury team, you will report to the US Treasurer. In this role, you will support a world class Treasury team for a fast-growing dynamic company.  This role will support all aspects of America's business cash operations management (accounts payable, payroll, travel and expenses, and funding).  In addition, you will work with the US Finance team and the Global Finance team, as well as coordinate with cross-function business partners to support continuing company growth and pursuit of excellence.

 

What you’ll be working on

Treasury Operations & Cash Management

    • Maintain Integrity & Oversight:
      • Ensure full compliance and accuracy in all treasury activities, adhering to internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
      • Establish and enforce standardized procedures for cash management activities.

Daily Operational Management:

    • Oversee the processing of daily transactions, including:
      • Accounts Payable: Utilize bill.com to process vendor invoices and ensure timely payments. Work with both internal and external stakeholders to make sure appropriate documentation is provided. 
      • Payroll: Coordinate with the People and Culture team to process employee payroll and manage benefits accurately.
      • Merchant and Funding payments related to payments for daily client transactions
      • Travel & Expense: Manage travel arrangements and expense reporting via Navan, Expensify and Brex.

Liquidity & Risk Management:

    • Collect and analyze data from accounts payable, payroll, merchant funding, corporate credit card transactions, and travel and expense systems.
    • Track daily liquidity inflows and outflows for these areas to ensure the organization maintains adequate cash reserves.
    • Develop detailed forecasts that highlight periods of surplus or shortfall, informing proactive management decisions.
    • Actively meet with teams across Zip to determine what data impacts liquidity, such as payment cycles, vendor terms, payroll schedules, and expense trends.
    • Propose actionable strategies to mitigate identified liquidity risks, such as adjusting payment schedules, negotiating better payment terms, or optimizing cash disbursements.
    • Suggest process improvements or technology enhancements to streamline cash management practices across all areas of responsibility.
    • Work closely with the team to compile and prepare comprehensive reporting.
    • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure data accuracy and consistency.

Data Monitoring:

    • Review and analyze financial data from multiple sources, identifying and investigating discrepancies and anomalies.

Control & Compliance:

    • Identify gaps in current processes and implement additional financial controls to bolster accuracy and security.
    • Ensure all reporting meets internal standards and external regulatory requirements.

Technology & Tools Integration:

    • Administer Expense management systems
      • Manage workflows through various Treasury systems including AP and T&E
      • Utilize AI tools to help improve processes and streamline payment approvals
      • Advise accounting team on impacts to ERP from Treasury activity and changes
    • Develop and maintain dynamic spreadsheets for financial analysis, ensuring real-time accuracy and accessibility.

Process Optimization

    • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
      • Partner with Finance, Accounting, and other departments to identify areas for operational improvement.
    • Strategic Improvement Initiatives:
      • Lead efforts to streamline processes, reduce manual intervention, and enhance automation within treasury operations.
      • Evaluate and implement new tools or systems that improve process efficiency and data integrity.
    • Continuous Improvement & Training:
      • Conduct periodic reviews of current workflows to identify inefficiencies and recommend actionable solutions.

What you’ll bring to the team 

Educational Background & Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related discipline.
    • 8+ years of progressive experience in finance/treasury roles, including at least 5 years specializing in Cash Operations (AP, payroll, expense reimbursement, corp credit card and travel).
    • Working knowledge of accounting and reporting practices specific to Cash Operations.

Technical & Analytical Proficiency

    • High-level intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel for analysis.
    • Proven ability to analyze complex financial data and translate it into actionable insights.
    • Strong financial acumen with a deep understanding of accounting principles and practices.

Adaptability & Problem-Solving

    •  Adaptability & Problem-Solving Ability to thrive in an ambiguous, fast-paced, and agile environment; comfortable navigating unstructured scenarios.
    • Independent thinker who excels in “grey area” decision-making, proactively seeking solutions without established precedents.
    • Solutions-oriented mindset with a proactive problem-solving attitude, able to effectively manage multiple competing priorities while maintaining a strategic perspective.

Interpersonal & Communication Skills

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex financial information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Strong relationship-building skills, capable of fostering effective collaborations both internally across teams and externally with vendors and partners.
    • Demonstrated leadership in driving cross-functional collaboration and continuous improvement initiatives.

Nice-to-haves

Advanced Certifications:

    • Professional certifications such as CPA, CMA, or CFA can add significant value by demonstrating expertise and commitment to financial excellence.

  Treasury & Financial Systems Expertise:

    • Familiarity with treasury management systems, cash operations, and ERP platforms to streamline financial operations.
    • Experience with automation and digital transformation initiatives, including the implementation of AI-driven financial analytics or RPA (Robotic Process Automation) in treasury functions.
    • Bill.com, Navan, Expensify, NetSuite system experience

Regulatory & Risk Management Knowledge:

    • In-depth understanding of regulatory compliance and risk management frameworks within financial operations.
    • Experience in developing and implementing internal controls, audit procedures, and risk mitigation strategies.

Project Management & Agile Methodologies:

    • Proven project management skills, especially within agile or fast-paced environments, ensuring smooth implementation of process improvements.
    • Ability to leverage advanced data analysis techniques to forecast trends, optimize liquidity, and support strategic decision-making.
    • Fintech industry experience

Zip is committed to a straightforward and transparent pay structure. The actual base salary will be determined by various individualized factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, location, internal equity, as well as other objective business considerations.

The annual base Pay Range for this position is $140,000 - $160,000. This range reflects our US national compensation (USN). Additional premium percentages may apply based on our tiered premium strategy.

Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. 

If hired, employees will be in an 'at-will position' and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
