We are currently working on Project ETHOS, a new free-to-play, 3rd person rogue-like hero shooter and an exciting evolution on the genre!

Who You Are:

We are looking for a Senior (Meta) Gameplay Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will collaborate with designers and an experienced engineering team to create innovative gameplay mechanics and tools within scalable and flexible systems. You’ll work across various domains including player control and abilities, AI and navigation, world systems, in-game tools, and more, with exposure to areas such as networking, animation, physics, rendering, UI/UX, streaming, and audio. You'll have the opportunity to lead key features from design to final polish, collaborating closely with dev partners to ensure everything runs smoothly.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of game mode systems for an AAA multiplayer game, ensuring smooth integration with other systems (e.g., networking, animation, AI, backend, UI)
  • Drive iterative prototyping and refinement of gameplay features while maintaining high standards for code quality, maintainability, and performance
  • Collaborate with designers and engineers to create tools and systems that enhance productivity and enable seamless gameplay experiences
  • Mentor junior engineers, providing guidance and leadership to improve team performance and foster growth
  • Focus on delivering polished, player-facing features that meet quality standards and enhance player experience

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience as a gameplay engineer on AAA multiplayer games, with expertise in designing and optimizing multiplayer gameplay systems
  • Proficiency in C/C++ programming and strong understanding of 3D math, algorithms, and data structures
  • Experience designing and implementing systems that improve designer workflows and enhance overall productivity
  • In-depth knowledge of adjacent systems like networking, AI, backend and UI, and how to integrate them effectively
  • A strong passion for creating high-quality, polished gameplay that delivers an engaging player experience

Relevant Experience:

  • Familiarity with Unreal Engine

The pay range for this position in California at the start of employment is expected to be between $120,000 and $160,000 per year. However, base pay offered is based on market location and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an 'at-will position' and the company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
