Join the Anaplan IT Corporate Data Analytics Team, a fast-moving, high-impact team of engineers and analysts building scalable data solutions that empower decision-making across Anaplan’s IT organization. From infrastructure and enterprise applications to service management and software lifecycle, we help IT teams see, understand, and improve their operations, with data at the core. If you’re energized by systems thinking, telemetry data, and unlocking new visibility across IT, you’ll feel right at home here.

As an Observability Engineer on the Corporate Data Analytics team, you’ll bridge the gap between real-time system monitoring and strategic insight. This role blends classic observability engineering — instrumenting systems, building telemetry pipelines, surfacing alerts — with data modeling and analytics-oriented thinking to create structured, reusable layers of IT observability data that support both reactive operations and proactive analysis.
You’ll partner with analysts, engineers, and IT leadership to make sure our platforms aren’t just visible — they’re explainable, measurable, and continuously improving.

Your Impact

  • Build and maintain observability pipelines that transform logs, events, and metrics into structured data models used for dashboards, diagnostics, and longer-term trend analysis.
  • Partner with IT Infrastructure, Enterprise Apps, and Support teams to define service health metrics, SLOs, and platform KPIs that align with both real-time monitoring and strategic analytics.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and telemetry interfaces using tools like Grafana, Datadog, and Tableau — balancing immediacy and analytical depth.
  • Create instrumentation and automations (Python preferred) that enrich observability data and support anomaly detection, operational triggers, and decision intelligence.
  • Collaborate with analysts to define reusable metric definitions, dimensional structures, and source-of-truth datasets for IT performance analysis.
  • Champion consistency, quality, and reusability of observability data across business-critical platforms like ServiceNow, Salesforce, and Workday.

Your Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in an observabilitydata engineering, or SRE/platform engineering role focused on systems data and telemetry.
  • Strong programming skills (Python preferred) and experience with data pipeline frameworks (Airflow, DBT, or similar).
  • Proficiency with telemetry and observability tools (Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, or Elastic).
  • Experience designing structured data models to support both operational monitoring and strategic reporting.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, cross-functional environments with evolving priorities.
  • Must be based near one of our office hubs to work hybrid schedule: San Francisco, San Ramon, Minneapolis, Miami, or New York.

Nice to Have

  • Background in analytics, metrics engineering, or KPI frameworks supporting IT/business operations.
  • Experience integrating observability data into BI/analytics tools like Tableau or Snowflake.
  • Familiarity with IT service management (ServiceNow), enterprise platforms (Workday, Salesforce), or related domain data models.
  • Exposure to AI observability concepts, including use of vector databasesretrieval-augmented generation (RAG), or other supporting components behind modern AI-powered infrastructure.
  • Experience building frontend components or web applications, with working knowledge of how UI elements connect to backend services and data sources.

This isn’t just about keeping the lights on. You’ll help build the systems that help IT see across the enterprise, from real-time incident response to long-term capacity and performance trends. Your work will power both the operational heartbeat of our platforms, the strategic conversations that guide their evolution, and empower our AI governance and operational teams.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
