Warehouse Associate
POSITION OVERVIEW
Responsible for specialized warehouse tasks in loading, unloading, order pulling, shipping, returns, forklift, or may have a generalized role working in all departments.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Completes tasks such as loading and unloading containers, sorting, picking, stocking, staging, and transportation of goods.
- Loads and unloads materials to and from designated storage area, such as racks, shelves, or vehicles.
- Stacks or piles materials, such as lumber, boards, or pallets.
- Condenses bins and make/keeps slabs visible.
- Builds bundles for trucks and loads them as they come back in preparation for the next day’s deliveries.
- Cuts slabs as needed.
- Install protective devices, such as bracing, padding, or strapping, to prevent shifting or damage to items being transported.
- Verify computations against physical count of stock.
- Maintains condition of work area (i.e. free of trash, product in correct location, etc.).
- Follows company safety policies and procedures and encourages other associates to do the same.
- Receives and fills orders of materials, and products for fabricators (installers) and subcontractors.
- May operate forklift or other machinery in order to complete tasks.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
ACCOUNTABILITIES AND PERFORMANCE MEASURES:
- Ensures slabs have no defects.
- Ensures that all tools, clamps and straps/cables are kept in good condition.
- Selects correct processes from clearly prescribed rules, past practices or instruction.
- Seeks advice and guidance on non-routine or problem areas from supervisor.
- Under close supervision, exercises limited latitude/independent judgment. Work typically involves detailed checks or close review of output by a senior co-worker and/or supervisor.
REQUIREMENTS/EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Ability to stand for periods of time up to and exceeding 60 minutes.
- Typically, in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors such as temperature extremes, moving machinery, and noise, which may be a moderate risk of accident or illness.
- Must pass a pre-employment Drug Test and Background Check
- HS Diploma or GED required. Some experience helpful.
- Forklift/overhead crane experience. OSHA certification current.
