About the Role & Team
As part of the theScore team, you will be working with a team of smart, friendly, and dedicated Engineers, Product Managers and Designers determined to deliver some of the best apps the market has to offer. We want you to be challenged and to get the full experience of what it’s like to work at theScore!
Being able to follow your favorite leagues, teams and players, and receiving push notifications on important events and milestones, is an important step in bringing users into theScore’s mobile applications. The Notifications team is responsible for the set of services that power these capabilities. Expanding these capabilities into a flexible platform for generating dynamic messages for multiple applications, delivered with insanely fast speeds, is the ultimate goal for the Notifications team.
About the Work
As a key member of our Notifications team you will:
- Maintain and develop our current Ruby-based services
- Collaboratively define and implement the future vision and architecture for a modern notifications platform
- Ensure appropriate monitoring and alerting is in place (we’re heavy DataDog users).
- Participate in the design, architecture, and delivery of new features in a collaborative agile/scrum environment.
- Participate in pair programming and mob sessions to implement features and unblock team members.
- Deploy services and applications to Amazon EKS / GKE.
- Other duties as required.
About You
- A solid foundation in computer science, with strong competencies in data structures, distributed systems, and software design.
- Passionate about clean code architecture and software craftsmanship.
- Experience with modern web frameworks and API development
- Experience with Git and GitHub or similar.
- A strong grasp and experience with relational databases; including PostgreSQL and MySQL.
- Experience with consuming and integrating with third party APIs
- Comfortable working in the terminal.
- Proficiency within an editor of your choice.
- Experience with testing frameworks such as ExUnit, RSpec, Jest, pytest or equivalent.
