ProBio proactively provides end-to-end CDMO service from drug discovery to commercialization with proactive strategies, professional solutions and efficient processes in cell and gene therapy (CGT), vaccine, biologics discovery and antibody protein drug to accelerate drug development for customers. Job Scope:

We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Technical Sales Representative to promote and sell our automated plasmid purification instruments by providing technical support and troubleshooting at customer sites in the assigned territory. This role will target both pharmaceutical and biotech industries as well as academic research institutions, including universities and labs focused on molecular biology, protein analysis and purification and gene therapy. The ideal candidate will be passionate about advancing scientific research through innovative technology with strong problem-solving ability and will have a strong understanding of molecular biology, particularly plasmid purification processes.

In this role, you will serve as a bridge between our cutting-edge technology and scientists who rely on efficient, scalable solutions to accelerate their research and provide suggestions to our internal team on areas of future improvements by collecting customer feedback. Your expertise will be key in building relationships with key stakeholders in both industry and academia, including lab managers, researchers, and decision-makers in R&D departments.

Please note that this position supports the Catalog Products Business Unit of Genscript's Life Sciences Division. The role supports the Boston, MA territory and it is required to reside within the Greater Boston area. 

Key Responsibilities:

Sales & Account Development:

  • Industry: Support the local sales account managers in identifying and developing relationships with potential customers in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and life sciences companies, focusing on R&D departments, core facilities, gene therapy and, drug discovery.
  • Academia: Support the local sales account managers in engaging with academic institutions, universities, and research centers that require cutting-edge automated solutions for plasmid purification and molecular biology workflows.
  • In collaboration with the local sales account managers, involve in the full sales cycle, from initial outreach and product demonstrations to closing sales, meeting or exceeding revenue targets.
  • Maintain regular communication with customers to monitor their purchasing patterns, troubleshoot any ongoing issues, and ensure continued satisfaction. Proactively identify and pursue cross-selling opportunities to support business growth.
  • Tailor sales strategies to the specific needs of each sector, offering customized solutions based on their research or production goals.
  • Collaborate closely with Field Application Scientists to fine-tune solutions and optimize protocols to meet customer needs.

Product Expertise & Solution Selling:

  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of our automated plasmid purification instruments, with a primary focus on plasmid purification, while also staying informed on related technologies and competitor solutions that address critical challenges in pharma R&D and academic research environments.  Mandatory, in-depth, hands-on onsite training sessions will be conducted at our lab facilities to ensure a comprehensive understanding of relevant technologies
  • Independently deliver product demonstrations and technical presentations to customers in both industry and academia, highlighting the efficiency, scalability, and accuracy of our solutions.
  • Work with customers to understand their technical requirements and propose tailored solutions that fit their specific workflows, whether for small-scale research or large-scale production.
  • Collaborate with the Field Application Scientist team, product development and engineering teams to provide feedback and insights from customers to improve products and meet emerging needs.

Customer Support & Relationship Management:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all customer inquiries, providing expert-level technical support during and after the sales process.
  • Facilitate the installation, demonstrations, training, and post-sale support such as troubleshooting to ensure customers can fully leverage the capabilities of our instruments.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with both industry professionals and academic researchers, ensuring high customer satisfaction and identifying opportunities for upselling and repeat business.
  • Gather customer feedback to inform future product development and innovation.

Market Research & Industry Awareness:

  • Keep informed of the latest developments in plasmid purification, protein analysis, proteins purification, molecular biology, gene and drug therapy, and other related fields in both the pharma and academic research sectors.
  • Monitor competitor activity and market trends to identify new sales opportunities and ensure that the company remains competitive.
  • Attend industry conferences, trade shows, and academic events to promote the products and stay up-to-date with advancements in the field.

Qualifications:

  • Education: A Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field. Advanced degrees (MSc, PhD) are a plus, especially in areas related to molecular biology or life sciences.
  • Technical Knowledge:
    • Strong understanding of plasmid purification technologies, protein analysis, and protein purification, particularly automated systems used in pharmaceutical research and academic studies.
    • Knowledge of molecular biology workflows and research applications in both academic labs and pharma R&D environments.
    • Ability to clearly explain complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders, such as lab managers or purchasing departments.
  • Sales Skills:
    • Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
    • Ability to manage the full sales cycle, including generating leads, developing relationships, and closing deals.
    • A customer-focused, consultative approach to selling, with the ability to adapt your pitch to the specific needs of both academic and industry clients.
  • Travel Requirements:
    • Willingness to travel for customer meetings, conferences, on-site visits, and internal technical trainings as needed.
