Who you are:

The Field Service Technical Specialist position requires a highly motivated, well organized and committed individual who can maintain excellent relationships with internal and external customers. We are looking for automotive passionates with experience in electronics applied to vehicles and "workshop" background. 

What you'll do:

This position involves working with Geotab Product and R&D personnel to ensure our product, accessories and solutions are designed with the vehicle and installer in mind. Site visits to support new telemetry interfacing initiatives, strategic pilot programs, installation audits and troubleshooting. In addition, this role will manage third party Installation Partner networks and relationships.

How you'll make an impact

  • Work to become a Geotab Product Subject Matter Expert and provide valuable business solutions. 
  • Provide design support for the New Product team, analyzing user’s requirements, defining product specifications, field and simulation testing.
  • Support customers with technical details, technical specifications and data requirements based on Geotab product offerings.
  • Advise Sales with technical applications based on requirements from Resellers / Customers.
  • Support Installation partners and their installers real time when necessary. Provide specific technical installation requirements and wiring schematics
  • Oversee installation of pilot projects involving complex solution implementation and new product introduction. Ensure company deliverables meet customer requirements.
  • Support Engineering investigations by collecting CAN data utilizing Hardware Testers, CANalyzers and oscilloscopes, etc.
  • Advise Sales and Solution Engineers on RFP responses with technical input, time and pricing for installation services.
  • Stay relevant to new advances in technology and be flexible to adapt to the growing market demands. Be innovative through researching and presenting new ideas.
  • Create and Implement Installer Certification Tests
  • Update modules with latest Geotab Product information
  • Participate in installer performance evaluation and audits. Ensure company installation quality standards are communicated and adhered to in the field.
  • Update all installation documents and product guides with latest information. 
  • Work with installers to ensure they understand and use the Field Services department price list for installation services.
  • When required, perform installations in the field as a part of an installation demonstration, installation training or Pilot projects.
  • Create Installation videos and guides by taking photo sets and video content in conjunction with our L&D Teams.
  • Author quarterly Newsletters for our installation partners with Marketing via email and on Geotab.com
  • Send out feedback surveys, support Field Services invoicing processes, and update the ticketing system.  
  • Continually seek and suggest methods to improve both internal and external systems and processes within the organization, especially as related to installations and onsite services. 
  • Maintain the installer network database with all qualifying documents.
  • Source and qualify new installation partners.
  • Resolve installer issues and concerns.
  • Support Geotab global strategic initiatives.

What you'll bring to the role

  • Post-Secondary Degree or equivalent experience required. Specialization in electronics, industrial management or a related field highly valued.
  • +5 Years of experience working as an installation field service specialist in Telematics, Automotive industry, or equivalent.
  • Experience with OBD and CAN communications, SAE vehicle standards, serial data interfaces.
  • Proficiency with working with automotive/electronics test equipment, comfortable working with hand tools.
  • Knowledge of communications systems & networks (Cellular, GPS, serial data).
  • Experience with both hardware and software integration required.
  • Knowledge of database systems and analyzing data sets.
  • In depth knowledge of automotive electronic components.
  • Experience managing 3rd party contractor relationships.
  • Ability to travel up to 40% of the time (local and internationally).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Spanish and English.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to learn and absorb new procedural information, and disseminate it to end-users, as well as to quickly develop rapport with customers and partners.
  • Meticulous attention to detail is a must.
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to problem-solve to well-judged decisions.
  • A strong team-player with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization.
  • Technical competence using software programs, including, but not limited to, Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides).
