What you'll do:
As a Vehicle Integration Specialist, your main goal is to set up the hardware and software for capturing high-quality sensor data from vehicles. This means finding the best and safest ways to physically connect to vehicles and maximize data availability. You'll also diagnose and fix data quality issues and interference problems with Geotab products in the field, running tests, documenting findings, and reverse engineering vehicle data. This critical data forms the backbone of many Geotab products, helping us provide top-notch global customer support.
You'll work closely with the Vehicle Data team and other internal groups, researching new vehicles, reverse-engineering their systems, and automating processes with software tools. To succeed, you'll need to be a meticulous problem-solver with a strong focus on detail and safety, able to tackle complex vehicle system issues. You'll also bring strong technical skills in vehicle data acquisition and reverse engineering, along with the ability to execute tests, document results thoroughly, and collaborate effectively within a technical team.
How you'll make an impact:

Analyze vehicle hardware and networks through OEM documentation such as wiring diagrams.

Investigate vehicles for new types of harnesses and data requirements.

Document and design integration/ installation methods and connection points from vehicles in a way that is digestible by Geotab's hardware and software teams.

Maintain Geotab’s harness and alternative connection products.

Assist with the reverse engineering process through manual and automated vehicle data collection methods.

Test and evaluate third party products.

Perform telematics platform testing, ensuring the platform can work seamlessly on all vehicles, and identify those with potential issues.

Assist with resolution of complex technical issues by performing site visits to impacted customer vehicles.

Participate in root cause analysis by executing test plans for potential adverse interactions between Geotab’s systems and vehicles.

Support the global reverse engineering vision and process by contributing to the use, design and implementation of the software tooling.
What you'll bring to the role:
- Post-Secondary Degree/Diploma/Certification specializing in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Computer, Systems Design, Automotive or a related field.

1-3 years of experience in various vehicle systems, sensors, actuators and including controls systems, diagnostics and electrical/ communications architecture, design and operation.

1-3 years of experience in physical layers (e.g. CAN bus, K-Line/ISO9141, VPW/PWM, Single Wire CAN etc.).

1-3 years of experience in vehicle interfacing and analysis tools, automotive diagnostic scan tools (OEM and Aftermarket technical information and tools).

General experience diagnosing vehicle related problems using conventional tools (probing connectors, harness building, circuit testing).

Knowledge of automotive diagnostic standards (e.g. SAE J1939, SAEJ1979, KWP/2000, UDS 14229, ISO 27145 WWH-OBD).

Experience with SQL or Google Big Query equivalent is an asset.

Exposure to any programming or scripting languages (C, C++, Python, Matlab, etc)

Strong analytical skills with the ability to problem solve well-judged decisions.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.
