What you'll do:
As an IT Asset Management Specialist, your key area of responsibility will be monitoring and executing Geotab's IT Asset Management (ITAM) practice to ensure an optimized and compliant hardware and software environment, encompassing asset record keeping, audits, procurement, documentation, configuration analysis, hardware testing, selection, and process integration, with a focus on tracking, reporting, license discovery, ELP creation, and license metrics. You will need to work closely with all levels of the organization.
To be successful in this role you will be a team-player with the ability to engage and communicate clearly and effectively. In addition, the successful candidate will have a good understanding of various key performance areas used in ITAM.
How you'll make an impact

Develop, track and accurately update asset registries, classes and categories.

Participate and contribute in various projects related to IT asset management.

Update and maintain the Configuration Management Database (CMDB).

Perform occasional fieldwork to acquire additional IT infrastructure data or to confirm the accuracy of asset data.

Track, update and close asset related service requests within the agreed upon SLA.

Participate in the development and maintenance of asset management policies, procedures, systems and measurements in order to manage the asset portfolio, identify risks, track costs and control adherence.

Collaborate with IT infrastructure and service teams to determine trends in asset performance as well as gathering feedback for device satisfaction.

Assist in device selection and testing & work with vendors to test new hardware and develop standard testing methodologies for all new devices.

Partner with the different business units to gauge their satisfaction with devices and address any concerns.

Understanding of various license terminologies for major publishers like Oracle, IBM, Adobe & MS.

Demonstrated skill to prepare and defend ELPs, follow through with remediation and reporting cost savings though re-harvesting.

Understand and articulate licensing metrics & metering.

Develop life-cycle costing and long-term IT asset management plans including forecasting for hardware needs and planning for replacement devices based on the vendor's end of life targets.

Perform Asset audits to determine baselines.

Develop, maintain and update regular dashboards, reports and presentation decks with accurate numbers, work and project updates.
What you'll bring to the role

Post-secondary diploma/degree in IT, Business, Commerce, or a related field preferred.

2-5 years of experience in IT asset analysis, including IT procurement and as an HAM/SAM professional.

1-3 years of experience collaborating with business stakeholders in a cross-functional environment.

Knowledge of CMDB, ITIL principles and ITSM processes, and a wide array of IT hardware (end-user devices, infrastructure).

In-depth understanding of software licensing metrics, ELP creation, and mitigation plans.

Hands-on experience extracting data from various operating system environments (e.g., SCCM, Jamf, Linux).

Proven ability to successfully execute strategic asset management processes, vendor management, product selection, and hardware refresh strategies.

Excellent verbal, written, and analytical problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate technical information clearly.

Proficiency in software programs, including Google Suite.

Ability to work independently, strong team player, and comfortable in a flat organization with an entrepreneurial mindset.

Professional certifications (ITIL, CSAM, CHAMP, SNCSAM) and experience with agile project management software (e.g., JIRA) are highly valued.
