Senior Manager, Asset Protection and Compliance Programs

The Role 

The Senior Manager, Asset Protection and Compliance Programs position at Green Thumb Industries Inc. ("GTI"), Is a pivotal leadership role responsible for managing a team that ensures the accurate and timely completion of all cannabis and business licenses, and to oversee and coordinate key PMO activities for critical APS safety, compliance, physical security and Security Operations Center projects and programs.   

Responsibilities 

Licensing and Regulatory Compliance:  

  • Manage the team that executes the timely and accurate application, renewal and maintenance of all cannabis and business licenses across all relevant markets for any businesses owned by GTI or any of its affiliated companies. 
  • Oversee the badging and disclosures processes for senior executives and board members.
  • Partner with Accounting and Finance to ensure that upcoming licensing and renewal payments, due dates, and payment methods are forecasted for and then executed for payment timely.
  • Support the development, oversight, and process improvement of procedures and activities to ensure efficient and timely execution of critical licensing/badging/disclosure tasks.   
  • Monitor and/or audits the licensing email in-box to ensure communications are being managed by the team timely and with professionalism, including but not limited to the delegation of incoming memos/communications to key partners and escalation of risks/concerns to key contacts when needed.  
  • Report any delays or other matters of concern to manager.  

APS Program Management: 

  • Oversee the development, execution, and monitoring of APS-related programs and projects, including security, compliance, and safety initiatives.
  • Manage the evaluation, design, execution, measurement, monitoring, and control of existing and new APS related business programs & projects  including executive presentations, field communication cascades, key APS on-going projects to support that support retail, CPG, and Revenue businesses
  • Identify key cross functional partners and  coordinate teams, tasks forces, critical projects and initiatives for APS PMO projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate APS PMO projects that support retail, CPG, and revenue operations.
  • Manage the APS project portfolio; collects, analyzes, compiles, and reports project and portfolio strategy, planning and progress information.  
  • Support the development and implementation of Asset Protection Solutions system strategies and continuous improvement opportunities; coordinates the development of key analytics that support business strategies.  
  • Stay in tune with cannabis industry trends and systems; brings forth opportunities for broadening the business’ objectives with thoughtful risk taking. 

Leadership and Team Management: 

  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and training to team members, ensuring professional growth and skill development.
  • Oversee team performance and staffing, ensuring roles are aligned with business needs.
  • Manage and mentors’ team through on-boarding, open communication, training and development opportunities and performance management processes; provides proactive leadership, motivates team members and ensures the team is appropriately staffed with required competencies; fosters a diverse and inclusive workplace.  
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned. 

Qualifications: 

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience
  • Progressively responsible and relevant experience in compliance, asset protection, risk management, or regulatory affairs in highly regulated industries.
  • Experience in regulatory compliance, asset protection, security operations, or licensing administration within a highly regulated industry (e.g., cannabis, pharmaceuticals, alcohol, finance, or healthcare).
  • Proven experience managing teams and leading cross-functional projects related to compliance, licensing, or security operations. 

Regulatory & Compliance Expertise: 

  • In-depth knowledge of state and federal cannabis regulations, licensing processes, and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Experience working with government agencies, regulatory bodies, and licensing authorities to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Familiarity with badging and disclosure processes for executive personnel and high-level regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to interpret regulatory updates and translate them into actionable business strategies.
  • Ability to develop and implement risk mitigation strategies for security and compliance-related challenges. 

Project & Risk Management Skills:

  • Strong project management skills, including experience managing security, compliance, and safety initiatives across multiple locations. 
  • Strong project management and leadership skills, with experience managing cross-functional initiatives.
  • Experience with process improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean, Agile) to enhance licensing and compliance efficiency. 

Leadership & Communication: 

  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, train, and manage teams, fostering a high-performance and compliance-driven culture.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing reports, presentations, and executive briefings.
  • Well-rounded in negotiation and relationship-building skills to collaborate with external regulators and internal stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results under tight deadlines.  
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, innovative, and able to work independently or among teams with keen judgement, common sense and resourcefulness.
  • Comfortable working with a degree of ambiguity.
  • Able to convey ideas and information clearly in both spoken and written forms.
  • Adapts and thrives in a demanding, fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Operates with a high level of professionalism and integrity, including dealing with confidential information.  
  • A minimum of 2 years in cannabis industry preferred.
  • Certification in Project Management (PMP or equivalent) preferred. 

Additional Requirements 

  • Must pass all required background checks.
  • Must be and remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry.
  • Must possess valid driver’s license.
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age. 

The pay range is competitive and based on experience, qualifications, and/or location of the role. Positions may be eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program driven by organization and individual performance.

Green Thumb Pay Range

$125,000 - $145,000 USD
