Head of Business Excellence, Managing Director

About the Role

The Head of Business Excellence serves as a strategic and operational partner to the COO, driving business performance, operational rigor, strategic development and cultural alignment across the business unit. This role functions as a Deputy COO and Chief of Staff, with a strong focus on project management, controls, governance, and cross-functional enablement. The ideal candidate will lead initiatives that enhance operational excellence, ensure regulatory compliance, and foster a high performing, engaged workforce.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the COO to oversee business unit operations, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to drive change, including acquisition integration to improve efficiency, and enhance transparency.
  • Partner with technology to drive operational excellence and scale
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and scorecards to track business performance and key control metrics.
  • Establish and lead a horizontal support function across Legal, Compliance, and Risk.
  • Oversee and standardize processes related to:
    • Policy and procedure management
    • Regulatory inquiries and responses
    • Platform access and entitlements
    • AML/KYC/PKR compliance
    • Committee governance and documentation
    • Audit readiness and scorecard tracking
    • Key control monitoring and escalation
  • Assess and enhance existing control procedures, identifying gaps and implementing improvements.
  • Ensure consistency in methodology and tracking across the COO office and business unit.
  • Drive change management efforts across the business unit, ensuring smooth adoption of new processes and systems.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to break down silos and improve execution.
  • Lead business reviews, planning cycles, and performance tracking.
  • Help develop technology roadmap to drive client outcomes
  • Design and execute employee engagement strategies, including surveys, feedback loops, and action plans.
  • Plan and facilitate town halls, offsites, and internal communications to foster transparency and alignment.
  • Act as a cultural ambassador, promoting values of excellence, accountability, and inclusion.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years in business operations, risk/control functions, technology development, strategy, or Chief of Staff-type roles.
  • Experience working across Legal, Compliance, Risk, or Regulatory domains is highly desirable.
  • Proven track record of leading cross-functional initiatives and driving organizational change, utilizing both technology and process reengineering.
  • Strong understanding of operational risk, control frameworks, and regulatory environments.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proficiency in project management, data visualization, and reporting tools.

Benefits

The base salary range for this role is $250,000 to $300,000. iCapital offers a compensation package which includes salary, equity for all full-time employees, and an annual performance bonus.
