The Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games will be hosted in Los Angeles, California in 2028, returning to the United States for the first time in over 30 years. 2028 will be the first time LA hosts the Paralympic Games, creating an opportunity to expand awareness, understanding and inclusion of people with disabilities.
LA28, the organizers for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles, is on a mission to create an unparalleled Games experience for athletes, fans, partners, our community and our people. Our vision is to collectively create what’s next through sport, community and the power of our differences.
The 2028 Olympics and Paralympics will represent LA and leverage the strength of our community’s diversity and creativity as we collectively work to design a Games that we all want to be a part of. We do this by focusing on people and by inviting everyone into the story of the LA28 Games.
The LA28 organizing committee is an independent, non-profit organization that is privately funded and governed by a board of directors.

Intern, Marketing & Communications:
The 2025 LA28 Internship Program gives current and recent undergraduate students the opportunity to contribute hands-on, meaningful work to crucial planning stages for the 2028 Olympic & Paralympic Games. Interns will be placed in a specific functional area, directly supporting the day-to-day work and long-term projects of the team. In addition, interns will participate in unique roundtables, community service, and research projects as a cohort to deepen understanding of the organization, our mission, and key skillsets to pursue a future field of their choice. This is a paid, 10-week, 30-hour-a-week program, in person at our Los Angeles Headquarters.
The Marketing team leads LA28’s brand development & management, consumer insights & analytics, digital engagement, and fan engagement programs. In tandem, the Communications team leads media relations, executes all LA38/USOPP announcements and leads internal and external storytelling for the organization. These teams are seeking a summer intern in the following functional areas (FAs): Games Experience & Engagement, Digital Engagement, and Communications.

Functional Areas & Key Responsibilities:
The Marketing & Communications teams are looking for an intern in each of the following areas: Games Experience & Engagement, Digital Engagement, and Communications. If you are interested in multiple areas, we kindly request applicants to rank their choices and provide explanation within their application.
Interns on this team are expected to serve as brand stewards for the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Candidates should possess strong research and communication skills (both written and verbal), a keen interest in marketing, events, and communications, and a willingness to contribute to special projects as needed. Applicants will be considered for the three FAs listed but will be selected based on relevant experiences and skillsets.
Games Experience & Engagement: The Games Experience & Engagement (GEE) team is responsible for planning & executing key non-competition events during Games-time, including: Olympic & Paralympic Torch Relays; Opening, Closing & Medal Ceremonies; Live Sites, Fan Fests & In-Venue Activations. Each is a featured element of the Olympic & Paralympic Games. As a sub-function of the marketing team, it’s the responsibility of the GEE team to bring the LA28 brand to life through these experiences & ensure fans have the opportunity to be part of the Games, even if they haven’t purchased competition tickets. Events like the Torch Relays and Live Sites are generally free to the public and key mechanisms to bring the spirit of the Games to the most people possible.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research & analysis to support planning of Torch Relays, Live Sites, Fan Fests & In-Venue Activations
- Support development of operational frameworks to execute Live Sites, Fan Fests & In-Venue Activations
- Project management of Ceremonies planning
Digital Engagement: LA28's marketing and brand engagement team leads the digital and marketing campaigns of the brand. The marketing department collaborates internally across departments and externally with our audiences (athletes, fans, community, and partners) by providing engaging content through storytelling across channels and fan-centric events. Key channels that LA28 focuses on include Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, LA28.org, email, and paid media.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support VP, Marketing & Brand Engagement on coordinating deliverables on marketing campaigns
- Support on social media content brainstorm and development
- Develop and research full list of potential athletes, influencers, content creators, and ambassadors for LA28
- Support LA28 general fan inquiries via e-mail
Communications: The communications team leads the internal and external storytelling for the organization, telling LA28's remarkable story and protecting the reputation of the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The communications team supports the organization working cross-functionally with each functional area including marketing, impact/community relations, sustainability, government relations, athletes, partner management, commercial partnerships and Games planning & delivery. Communications is responsible for developing messaging and tools, managing Partner announcements including LA28/Team USA Partner activations, supporting external speaking opportunities, and working closely with media and other key stakeholders to tell the LA28 story on the road to delivering the 2028 Games.

Background & Qualifications:
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Must be able to work in a mainly in-person environment, 4-5 days in our Los Angeles office
- Must be able to work the full 10 week duration of the internship from June 16 – August 22, 30 hours a week
- This role requires extended periods of computer use and virtual collaboration.
- Occasional travel to venue sites or external events may be required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- May need to work some non-traditional work hours for specific events, such as evenings or weekends (will be communicated well in advance)
- May require lifting and transporting materials, such as documents, technology equipment, or event-related supplies (up to 25 lbs).
Education:
- Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in progress or recent graduate (graduation date December 2024 or later)
- Relevant coursework and/or experience in marketing or communications preferred

Interns can expect an hourly rate of $18.00 per hour and will be scheduled to work a 30-hour week. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
